Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley Touches Down in Australia Ahead of I’m A Celebrity Stint
Emmerdale favourite Lisa Riley has officially landed in Australia as she prepares to swap the Dales for the jungle. The beloved actress, best known for playing Mandy Dingle, was all smiles as she arrived at Brisbane Airport on Sunday — just days before heading into the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! camp.
A Dingle Down Under
Looking radiant after the long flight, Lisa couldn’t resist poking fun at her upcoming adventure, joking that she was “returning to film a new version” of Emmerdale: The Dingles Down Under, a 1997 special that saw the iconic soap family head to Australia.
“We did Dingles Down Under many years ago, so it’s only fair that we do Dingles Down Under again,” she laughed. “I’m a Dingle — I can cope with anything. I’m from the North! Us Northerners, we’re made of tough skin.”
The 49-year-old actress looked thrilled to be on Australian soil, even as she wheeled four suitcases through the terminal — admitting she’d packed plenty of options. “I’ve got a lot of bling,” she said. “I’ve just got many options because I’m such a girly-girl.”
No Fear of Creepy-Crawlies
While many celebrities dread the infamous Bushtucker Trials, Lisa insisted she’s not fazed by jungle life.
“I’ve worked on a farm for years playing Mandy Dingle — it’s part of the job! I’m just here to have fun and a real good laugh.”
The actress added that she’s looking forward to meeting “lots of lovely people” in camp, calling herself “a total people person.”
Why Lisa’s Perfect for the Jungle
An ITV insider told The Sun that Lisa’s charm and humour make her a perfect fit for I’m A Celebrity:
“Lisa is the perfect celebrity for the show. She’s from one of ITV’s biggest soaps, she’s hilarious, mischievous, and loved by millions. Viewers are going to adore her.”
Lisa follows in the footsteps of other Emmerdale stars who’ve taken on the jungle, and producers reportedly believe she’ll be a huge hit with audiences.
Famous Faces Arriving in Brisbane
Lisa isn’t the only familiar face touching down this week. Kelly Brook was the first celebrity spotted arriving, looking glowing in a yellow dress despite a 24-hour flight. The model, 45, teased her appearance with playful banter, joking about “visiting a distant cousin” and looking forward to “seeing koalas and kangaroos.”
Meanwhile, fellow contestant Shona McGarty — known for her role as Whitney Dean in EastEnders — was seen flying out from Heathrow following her recent breakup, posting about “new beginnings” just hours before departure.
Lisa’s Jungle Outlook: “Bring It On”
Lisa’s fearless energy has already made her a fan favourite before she’s even stepped foot in camp. Whether it’s tackling critters, eating trials, or keeping camp morale high, the actress seems ready for anything.
“I’m a Dingle — I’ll survive!” she said with a grin.
Fans can expect to see Lisa join her fellow celebrities when I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! returns later this month on ITV1 and ITVX.
