Coronation Street Shocker: Driscoll Matriarch Maggie Hides a Killer Secret in Explosive Flashback Episode
Coronation Street is gearing up for a dark twist that promises to shake Weatherfield to its core, as the ITV soap teases a killer revelation surrounding the Driscoll family.
According to reports, the show will air a special flashback episode uncovering a deadly secret from the Driscolls’ past — one that could destroy their newly built lives at the Rovers Return.
A Dark Past Comes to Light
The Driscolls only recently arrived in Weatherfield, quickly becoming one of Corrie’s most talked-about new families. Led by matriarch Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) — with her son Ben (played by newcomer Aidan O’Callaghan) and his partner Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley, reprising her role) — the family have been at the heart of new Rovers drama since taking over the pub.
But the warm welcome is about to curdle.
According to The Sun, a chilling flashback episode will reveal that Maggie is hiding a murder — one that took place before the family moved to Weatherfield.
The victim, described only as a “major figure,” was reportedly killed in circumstances so shocking that the truth will “send shockwaves” through the cobbles once it emerges in the run-up to Christmas.
Maggie’s Deadly Secret
While the exact identity of Maggie’s victim remains under wraps, the report claims that none of her family — not Ben, Eva, or the grandchildren — know what she’s done.
The upcoming flashback episode will peel back the layers of Maggie’s past, showing how one fatal decision led to her quiet relocation to Weatherfield.
Sources suggest that the reveal will set off a chain reaction at the Rovers, as Maggie’s secret unravels in the worst possible way — just as the Driscolls’ reputation in the community begins to solidify.
Pauline McLynn Teases Maggie’s “Very Bad Behaviour”
Speaking to Digital Spy, actress Pauline McLynn hinted that Maggie’s mischievous, fiery nature hides something far more dangerous.
“I was told she’s larger than life and gets on with everyone. Although obviously, there are family dynamics – in every family there are. And maybe at some stage, the carpet will be pulled from under everyone’s feet,” McLynn teased.
She continued:
“Maggie is fiercely loyal and protective of her family. There’ll be things happening over Christmas where you think, ‘Oh come on, that’s very bad behaviour at the very least!’”
McLynn added that Maggie has a talent for pushing limits:
“She likes to throw in the most outrageous things, just to see how far she can go. But often that line has been long passed!”
A Murder That Shakes the Cobbles
The Driscolls’ story has already taken several dramatic turns since their arrival, with Maggie’s strained relationship with Eva and her icy clashes with Weatherfield veterans creating tension in the Rovers.
Now, this dark twist threatens to turn Coronation Street’s newest family from welcome newcomers to outcasts — or worse, suspects in a decades-old crime.
As Christmas approaches, viewers can expect the cobbles to rumble once more, with Maggie’s past finally catching up to her — and the truth emerging in the most explosive way possible.
