EastEnders fans were left emotional as Micah Balfour confirmed his departure from the BBC soap, with behind-the-scenes footage showing the actor tearfully saying goodbye after filming his final scenes as Junior Knight.

A Heartfelt Farewell on Set

Micah’s exit, which has been quietly in motion for weeks, became official as his last moments aired on screen. On set, producer Ben Wadey paid tribute to the actor before his on-screen family — including Colin Salmon and Molly Rainford — rushed forward to wrap him in a warm hug.

Fighting back tears, Micah addressed the cast and crew. “I just did my final scenes on the show. It’s been such an amazing honour and privilege for me to be on this show. Growing up this was the show my family sat around to watch, so to be a small part of its history is a great honour for me. Thank you for sticking by Junior. I know he’s been a character, but it’s been a privilege.”

Why Micah Left the Soap

According to show insiders, Micah’s contract was not renewed, with his final scenes filmed last month. Although disappointed, he reportedly took the news professionally, aware that characters come and go as storylines evolve. The door, however, has been left open for a possible return.

Micah joined EastEnders nearly eighteen months ago, becoming a key part of the newly expanded Knight family. His character, Junior, made a strong impression despite his relatively short run.

Two More Exits on the Way

Micah is not the only cast member preparing to leave Walford. Bobby Brazier, who plays Freddie Slater, and Molly Rainford, who portrays Anna Knight, are also bowing out in the coming months.

A BBC spokesperson confirmed Bobby’s exit, saying they wish him well as he looks toward new opportunities. A production insider added that both Bobby and the show agreed the timing was right for Freddie’s departure.

The BBC also confirmed Molly Rainford’s exit. After two successful years and several major storylines, her future ambitions aligned with the show’s own plans to bring Anna’s chapter to a close.
