Is Yellowstone’s 6666 Still Alive? Inside the Silence, the Spinoff’s Future, and Who Could Return
Yellowstone fans are asking the same question: Is Taylor Sheridan’s long-awaited spinoff, 6666, still happening? The project was first announced in February 2021 and was expected to expand the Yellowstone universe even further south, straight into the rugged landscape of West Texas. But with little news and multiple new Sheridan shows emerging, viewers are wondering if the trail has gone cold.
The curiosity intensified in late 2024 when Jefferson White returned as Jimmy Hurdstrom during Yellowstone’s final season. His time at the Four Sixes Ranch in Season 4 originally felt like a setup for a new series. Now, fans hope that return means forward momentum. However, Paramount has not confirmed any new updates as of August 2025.
A Long Wait With Few Answers
The most recent update came back in 2022, when Paramount revealed that 6666 would air on Paramount Network instead of streaming on Paramount+. Since then, Sheridan has released and developed multiple shows, including 1883, 1923, Y: Marshals, The Beth & Rip series, and The Madison, with another prequel, 1944, rumored.
Sheridan is known for writing his shows himself, often retreating into silence between creative bursts. Director Christina Voros once said that scripts simply arrive when Sheridan decides the time is right. According to her, no one—not even longtime collaborators—knows when a storyline will move forward until the script drops.
What 6666 Would Explore
Paramount’s original description teases an expansive Western saga rooted in the real history of the Four Sixes Ranch, founded when Comanches still ruled the region.
The ranch is described as a place where “the rule of law and the laws of nature merge” and where raising elite horses and cattle is a brutal test of survival. The series promises a world where danger is constant, and cowboys are forged, not born.
Who Could Star?
No cast list has been announced. However, many expect Jefferson White (Jimmy) to lead the spinoff, since his character’s transformation on the ranch introduced the Four Sixes to Yellowstone viewers. Characters with ties to the ranch, including Teeter (Jen Landon) and Travis Wheatly (played by Sheridan), could also appear. Jimmy’s wife, Emily (Kathryn Kelly), may also have a role if the story follows their new life in Texas.
Jimmy’s journey—from inexperienced ranch hand to skilled cowboy—has made him one of Yellowstone’s strongest redemption arcs. His evolution, and his choice to stay in Texas, left a door wide open for a 6666 story to follow.
