Fans finally have a date to circle on the calendar. CBS has confirmed when Y: Marshals, the long-awaited Yellowstone spin-off starring Luke Grimes, will arrive — and the countdown has begun.

CBS Locks In the Release Date

Y: Marshals will premiere on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 8pm EST. It lands in a prime slot between 60 Minutes and new episodes of Tracker and Watson. CBS clearly expects the show to become a major midseason hit.

The series follows Kayce as he leaves the ranch behind and joins an elite team of U.S. Marshals in Montana. It’s the first major expansion of Kayce’s story since the mothership series ended last year.Yellowstone' Spinoff 'Y: Marshals': Cast, Premiere Date, Trailer, Kayce Dutton Series Updates

An Expanding Cast — With Surprising Returns

Back in August, the spin-off completed its main cast. Logan Marshall-Green was the first confirmed addition, playing Pete Calvin, a military friend from Kayce’s past. Since then, the cast has grown fast.

Several Yellowstone stars will return as series regulars:

  • Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater

  • Mo Brings Plenty as Mo

  • Brecken Merrill as Tate Dutton

Their involvement signals a strong connection to Kayce’s roots, even as he steps into a new life.

New additions include Arielle Kebbel (Rescue: HI-Surf), Ash Santos (Pulse), and Tatanka Means (Reservation Dogs). Brett Cullen will join the series in a recurring role.

But one absence has fans talking: Kelsey Asbille, who played Monica, is not listed among the returning cast. Reports suggest the show will address her absence on-screen.

What Luke Grimes Has Said About Production

Grimes recently hinted on Instagram that filming was about to begin. At the end of his summer concert season, he wrote:

“Gotta go do my other job for a while.”

It was a subtle but clear tease that Y: Marshals was gearing up. His dual career as a musician and actor continues to shape his public persona, and fans have embraced both.

What’s Happening With the Second Spin-Off, The Dutton Ranch?

Taylor Sheridan has more than one spin-off on deck. The Dutton Ranch, starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser as Beth and Rip, has also rounded out its cast. Finn Little will return as Carter, and major stars like Annette Bening, Ed Harris, and Jai Courtney have joined the series.Yellowstone' Spinoff 'Y: Marshals': Cast, Premiere Date, Trailer, Kayce Dutton Series Updates

This spin-off stays in the present-day Yellowstone timeline. It follows Beth and Rip as they protect their 7,000-acre land, fight off new threats, and guide Carter into adulthood.

The official logline describes a story full of tension, family pressure, and the relentless fight to survive.
