NBC Confirms Early Fall Finales for Chicago Fire, Med, and PD — No New Episodes Until 2026

One Chicago’s Momentum Comes to a Halt

Since October 1, Chicago Fire Season 14, Chicago Med Season 11, and Chicago PD Season 13 have been delivering back-to-back action every Wednesday night. The shows have come out swinging this fall with shocking twists, major character returns, and no filler episodes in sight. Fans were hopeful the momentum would continue straight through the holidays.

Unfortunately, NBC just delivered the news no One Chicago fan wanted to hear — and it stings.

Only One New Episode Left in 2025

NBC has confirmed that the November 12th episodes of Chicago Fire, Med, and PD will serve as their fall finales. That means no new episodes for the rest of 2025.

The announcement comes as a surprise, especially since fall breaks usually don’t begin until late November or early December. This year, the decision was made to end the 2025 run after just seven episodes, making this one of the shortest fall slates in recent franchise history. One Chicago Finally Breaking A Frustrating 5-Year Crossover Streak Is Exactly What The Franchise Needed

What’s Behind the Early Break?

While it’s typical for network shows to pause during the holidays, this early November send-off is highly unusual. In past years, NBC has let the One Chicago shows air deep into the holiday season before taking a break.

This time, however, it seems the network is opting for a longer holiday hiatus in order to avoid a disruptive mid-season break in spring 2026. Strategically, it could help the rest of the season flow more smoothly — but for now, it leaves fans with a frustrating cliffhanger and a two-month gap.

When Will the Shows Return?

NBC hasn’t given a specific return date yet, but if history is any guide, the franchise will likely return on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. That matches the pattern from last season, when the shows resumed on January 8, 2025.

Until then, Wednesdays will feel a little emptier without Severide’s leadership, Crockett’s surgical drama, and Voight’s no-nonsense justice.Back in Business! Here's When Chicago Fire, P.D. and Med Are *Officially* Returning

A Silver Lining for Devoted Fans

While the hiatus is disappointing, it may offer a silver lining. Fewer breaks in the second half of the season could mean longer streaks of new episodes come spring.

In the meantime, Peacock remains the go-to place to binge all past episodes — from Severide’s earliest fires to Med’s toughest surgeries and PD’s grittiest takedowns.
