EastEnders fans were emotional last month as Stacey Slater bid farewell to Walford in a surprise twist. After a tense run-in with former flame Max Branning, Stacey accepted her brother Sean’s offer to start fresh in Brazil, leaving behind her friends, family, and fans.

But in real life, actress Lacey Turner is taking a well-earned breather—and she’s made it clear that Stacey’s exit is only temporary.

In a heartfelt goodbye video shared by the BBC, Lacey said an emotional farewell to cast and crew, thanking them for their support and adding:

“I am coming back. I won’t be long. I love you all very much. It’s a very special place to work.”

A Family-Focused Break

Lacey, who has played Stacey on and off since 2004, is currently enjoying time away from the soap to focus on her family. Married to husband Mat Kay since 2017, the couple now shares three children: daughter Dusty Violet (born 2019), son Trilby Fox (born 2021), and newborn Gipsy Olive, welcomed in January 2025.

During her time off, Lacey shared a rare and heartwarming Instagram photo with her mum Bev Harvey. The two were seen enjoying a cosy meal at Harry’s Dolce Vita, smiling warmly in a candid selfie.

“He said, ‘Just be you,’” Lacey laughed. “But he also said, ‘People are going to be very privy to your gas!’”

Always self-deprecating and full of charm, Lacey brushed off any worries about appearing barefaced and natural on screen.

“I love looking raw on TV… If anything, I’m the opposite of vain.”
