“Should Be Banned!” – Emmerdale Star Slams Brutal Filming Conditions as Lewis Barton’s Past Sparks New Drama
Bradley Riches teases upcoming romance, dark secrets—and behind-the-scenes chaos in the Dales
Weatherfield Has Nothing on This Weather…
Even soap stars have limits—and for Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter, it’s the wind, rain, and biting cold of filming in the Dales. After co-star Bradley Riches posted a behind-the-scenes video from the village set, showing the cast getting drenched in miserable weather, Lucy joked:
“Should be banned from October till April!”
Bradley, who plays newcomer Lewis Barton, shared the clip on Instagram with the caption, “I love my job,” while showing Eden Taylor-Draper and Olivia Bromley trying to stay dry. Other cast members, including Amy Walsh and Rosie Bentham, chimed in with laughter—but the winter chaos revealed the unglamorous reality of soap life.
Lewis Barton: From Mystery to Mayhem
Off-screen laughs aside, Bradley’s character is at the center of one of Emmerdale’s most emotionally complex arcs this year. Lewis Barton, the long-lost son of Emma Barton, arrived in the village seeking answers about his mother—only to discover the heartbreaking truth: it was Moira Dingle who accidentally caused Emma’s death.
At first devastated, Lewis has slowly built a life in the village. He’s now living with Ross Barton and Vinny Dingle, and has a job at Nicola King’s café. But the drama is far from over.
Recent episodes revealed that Kev Townsend is Lewis’ biological father, the result of a one-night stand with Emma. Nicola, fearing what this revelation might do to Lewis, blackmailed Kev into leaving—adding another dark twist to Lewis’s already painful journey.

A Romance on the Horizon?
With his complicated past still unfolding, fans are wondering if Lewis will finally get some light in his life. Vinny recently tried to spend quality time with him, but the moment was awkwardly interrupted by Kammy—sparking speculation about where Lewis’s romantic interests might lie.
Bradley Riches shared in an earlier interview:
“Lewis has never had a boyfriend, but he knows he likes boys. He’s open to something if the right person comes along.”
He added, “He takes a while to trust, so it would be a slow burn—but definitely exciting.”
