Former Coronation Street Star Sally Lindsay Awarded MBE in New Year Honours
Former Coronation Street actress Sally Lindsay has been awarded an MBE for her services to drama as part of the King’s New Year Honours
Lindsay is widely known for her role as Shelley Unwin the long suffering landlady of the Rovers Return a character she played from 2001 to 2006 Her performance during some of the soap’s most harrowing storylines earned widespread praise and left a lasting impression on viewers

Born in Stockport Sally Lindsay began her career in theatre before gaining national recognition through television roles in popular series such as The Royle Family Fat Friends and Phoenix Nights Her success continued well beyond Coronation Street as she went on to co create and star in the critically acclaimed crime drama Scott & Bailey followed by leading roles in Mount Pleasant Cold Call and The Madame Blanc Mysteries where she also serves as a creative force behind the scenes

In response to receiving the honour Lindsay dedicated her MBE to working class voices in the entertainment industry speaking about the importance of representation opportunity and staying true to one’s roots She has long been vocal about opening doors for performers from non traditional backgrounds
