HOT NEWS!!! EastEnders fans call out embarrassing blunder during heart-wrenching scene in BBC Christmas special – but can YOU spot it?
EastEnders viewers called out a glaring on-screen blunder from a heartbreaking scene – but can you spot it?
Boxing Day’s episode of the BBC soap saw Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) deliver gut-wrenching news to a devastated Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker).
Namely, that Patrick’s son Anthony (Nicholas Bailey) had been killed on Christmas Day.
Upon hearing this, the much-loved character sobbed: ‘Not again, not again, not again. Two sons – why?’
As Rudolph, 86, delivered the line, eagle-eyed fans spotted co-star Scott, 54, mouthing the words along with him.
Writing online, one fan penned: ‘Anyone else notice Jack mumbling Patrick’s line while he said it “Two sons, not again.”‘
In Boxing Day’s episode of EastEnders, Patrick Trueman received heartbreaking news – but eagle-eyed fans spotted a blunder

The fan-favourite’s son, Anthony, was killed off on Christmas Day although the murderer’s identity remains unclear.

Viewers watching the gut-wrenching scene were convinced Jack Branning actor Scott Maslen was mouthing along to Patrick’s lines

They later added: ‘I had to watch it again, definitely mumbling the lines, surprised they didn’t redo the scene, its so obvious.’
Another remarked: ‘I would understand if it was a live episode but that was some shocking editing.’
While a third chimed in: ‘It looks like he’s empathising, feeling the emotion as Patrick is saying the line. I didn’t think he was mumbling the same line.’
The BBC soap’s festive episode featured a confrontation between Anthony and Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) – with the latter mistakenly believing he’d been stalking her.
It came after Anthony discovered he was the father of Zoe’s twins, whom she gave birth to in 2006 and left at the hospital.
Fans took to social media to call out the gaffe – which distracted from an otherwise emotional moment
The situation spiralled dangerously out of control and after she realised Anthony hadn’t written the card supposedly sent by her son, Zoe became convinced her child was on his way to find her.
When Anthony insisted she couldn’t keep him from their son, she snapped: ‘My son. He’s not coming for you, he’s coming for me.’
Desperate, Anthony pleaded: ‘Don’t do this Zoe. This is a chance for us, we can build our family and get to know our children together.
‘It’s what we both want, what we both need. It’s a second chance.’
Zoe responded furiously, screaming: ‘You have lost it.’
She then made her feelings clear, shouting: ‘I don’t want to do this with you, I don’t want anything to do with you ever again.
Actor Nicholas Bailey made a shock return to EastEnders as Dr. Anthony Trueman earlier this year
‘What you told Kat about my kids is sick. Get out. I want you gone.’
The confrontation turned violent when Anthony lashed out, grabbing Zoe and slamming her head against the banister, leaving her unconscious.
Later, Kat went upstairs and discovered Zoe still unresponsive – and Anthony lying dead nearby.
Panicking, she said: ‘Zoe look at me,’ before asking: ‘What have you done? What have you done? He’s dead.’
Anthony’s body was found lifeless on the floor, leaving viewers with a chilling cliffhanger: did Zoe kill him?
In the second part of the Christmas special, Zoe decided to take responsibility for Anthony’s death.
She was escorted away from the Square by police, suggesting her fate may now be sealed.
Addressing his exit, actor Nicholas Bailey said: ‘I was sad things were coming to an end, but I wanted to lean into the excitement of this story being a launch pad for some incredible stuff heading into 2026.
‘I love EastEnders and I love seeing the show thrive. So, while I’m sad to be saying goodbye to Anthony, I’m happy it means my friends are going to have some incredible stuff to play following his death.’
