Kody Brown

Kody was happily married to Meri, Janelle and Christine when the show began in 2010. He was courting Robyn at the time, which caused friction during season 1, but they ultimately welcomed Robyn into the fold that same year. During season 2, Kody moved his family from Utah to Las Vegas amid community backlash for their lifestyle.
In 2014, Kody divorced Meri and legally wed Robyn. The emotional moment was documented during season 9 of the TLC series. A few years later, the family once again uprooted their lives, moving to Flagstaff, Arizona, during season 13. The move marked the beginning of the end of Kody’s relationship with Christine, who continued to express her desire to move back to Utah.
During the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, Kody butted heads with both Christine and Janelle over guidelines for the kids, pushing the women further away from their husband. Christine announced in November 2021 that she and Kody had called it quits.
Janelle confirmed in December 2022 that she and Kody had split several months prior. Meri, meanwhile, never fully recovered from her catfishing scandal in 2015, in which she got close to someone on the internet while married to Kody. Meri and Kody attempted to mend their relationship for years, but they announced in January 2023 they were done for good.
During season 19 of Sister Wives, which aired in 2024 and 2025, Kody revealed he was struggling to move on from the shock of the divorces. He and Robyn also faced hurdles in their marriage after she confessed she didn’t sign up for monogamy. However, as of 2025 Kody and Robyn remain married.

Meri Brown

Meri and Kody legally wed in 1990. They welcomed Janelle into their family in 1993 and Christine in 1994. Meri and Kody welcomed their only child, Leon, in July 1995, 15 years before they made their TV debut.
Meri agreed to a legal divorce in 2014 to ensure that Kody could marry fourth wife Robyn and legally adopt her three children from a prior relationship. Despite being on board with the family restructure, it took an emotional toll on Meri.
One year later, she pursued an online relationship with someone and discovered in time she was being catfished. In 2019, Meri once again caused a stir when she decided to open her bed and breakfast in Utah.
While Meri and Kody appeared to be working on their relationship in the years that followed, Kody confessed during a September 2022 Sister Wives special that he didn’t “consider” them married anymore. In January 2023, Meri and Kody released a joint statement confirming their split.
Meri had a brief romance with a man named Amos from October 2023 to February 2024. She also moved from Arizona to Utah to run her bed and breakfast shortly after her split from Kody.
Janelle Brown

Janelle spiritual wed Kody in 1993. They proceeded to welcome six children: Logan, Maddie, Hunter, Garrison, Gabriel and Savanah. All six of their kids were born before Sister Wives began filming.
Fans witnessed both Logan and Maddie get married throughout the season. Logan wed Michelle Brown in October 2022, while Maddie married Caleb Brush in June 2016. Janelle and Kody also became grandparents during their tenure on the series, after Maddie and Caleb welcomed son Axel and daughters Evie, Joey and Emilia, in 2017, 2019, 2023 and 2025, respectively.
Janelle and Kody started having problems in 2020 when Kody fought with their sonsGabe and Garrison over his COVID-19 rules. Janelle sided with their boys, which caused friction in the family. She also remained close with Christine after she left Kody in 2021. Janelle announced in December 2022 that she and Kody split.
After their breakup, the former couple faced heartbreak when their son Garrison died in March 2024. He was 25. The family reunited to mourn the loss later that year.
Janelle, meanwhile, left Arizona after her and Kody’s separation with daughter Savanah. She purchased farmland in North Carolina with Maddie and her husband, Caleb, and cofounded Taeda Farms, which is documented during season 19.

Christine Brown

Christine entered into a spiritual union with Kody in 1994. They welcomed five children, Aspyn, Mykelti, Paedon, Gwendlyn and Ysabel, before starring on the TLC series. Season 1 of the show documented Christine’s sixth pregnancy. They welcomed daughter Truely in April 2010.
In addition to the birth of their youngest daughter, viewers followed along as Christine and Kody’s eldest daughters found love. Aspyn married Mitch Thompson in June 2018, Mykelti married Tony Padron in December 2016 and Gwendlyn married Beatriz Queiroz in July 2023.
Christine and Kody’s lives as grandparents has also been a big focus of the show. Mykelti and Tony share three children, Avalon, and twins Archer and Ace, born in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
After moving from Las Vegas to Flagstaff, Christine and Kody began to drift apart. While Christine tried to convince the family to relocate to Utah, she was unsuccessful. In November 2021, she announced her split from Kody.
Christine moved with Truely to Utah shortly after their breakup, selling off her portion of the family’s Coyote Pass property to Kody and Robyn. She moved on romantically with David Woolley, whom she met on a dating site. The couple tied the knot in October 2023. They have since purchased a rental property in Moab, Utah.
Robyn Brown

Kody began courtingRobyn, a single mother of three, in 2010. During season 1 of Sister Wives, fans witnessed Robyn’s rocky road to becoming a Brown. She and her three eldest children, David “Dayton,” Aurora and Breanna, were eventually welcomed into the family. Four years into their new lives, Robyn and Kody got legally married and he adopted the three kids. (Robyn was previously married to David Jessop from 1999 to 2007.)
As the show gained traction, Robyn and Kody’s life began to grow. They welcomed their son, Solomon, in October 2011. Their daughter, Ariella, was born in January 2016, bringing Kody’s total number of children to 18.
Because Robyn had the youngest children, Kody began spending more time at her house, which caused issues with his other wives. Over the years, Meri, Janelle and Christine accused Kody of playing favorites and prioritizing Robyn.
After Kody’s three divorces, Robyn broke down on camera, revealing she never wanted to be in a monogamous relationship.
In August 2024, the couple listed their five-bedroom home in Flagstaff for $1.65 million, causing some to think there was trouble in paradise. In April 2025, Kody and Robyn as well as Meri and Janelle reportedly sold their Coyote Pass property in Arizona — which was supposed to be a commune-style housing space for all the family — for $1.5 million.
