Sister Wives star Kody Brown shared his one stipulation for adding another wife to his marriage with Robyn Brown and rejoining polygamy—and fans were not impressed.

During the Sunday, Sept. 28, Season 20 premiere of the TLC series, the Brown patriarch entertained the idea of taking on another wife after his breakups with Christine Brown, Janelle Brown and Meri Brown.

“I don’t mean to be salacious here, but we failed already. It was very, very painful,” Kody said of the idea of trying polygamy again.

“So if I was to ever try this again, she would have to be an absolute diamond,” he added. “And I’m not talking about just looks. I’m talking about the kind of devotion to Robyn that I would never—and I’m getting really honest with you, here, just take the sex out completely. She would have to adore Robyn so much that I would never, ever have to worry about whether she was competing with Robyn for my love and affection.”

“But he certainly didn’t require [Robyn] to adore the original 3!!” one pointed out, as another wondered, “Would Robyn have to adore her?”

Someone else joked, “She would have to be happy with me spending all my time with Sobyn and giving us all her money!!”

Meanwhile, a different Instagram user shared, “Meri adored Robyn and that still didn’t work.”

On Reddit, Sister Wives fans also weighed in on Kody’s insistence that a prospective sister wife must “adore” Robyn.

“I can’t believe [Kody] said ‘they have to adore [Robyn]’ in order for him to live polygamy again,” one viewer wrote. “He clearly confessed to what Meri, Janelle and Christine have been saying all along. [Robyn] was the wife he adored. The rest were just mothers of his children. To love him you have to first love [Robyn] SMH🤦🏻‍♀️.”

Another Reddit user shared, “It’s messed up that he says, ‘they have to adore Robyn’ but like, what about Robyn adoring the sister wife? Robyn’s complete being is sucking up the energy from people, we’ve never seen her reciprocate.”

Someone else pointed out, “I think that’s what he’s saying. That is, he knows it won’t work because he holds Robyn in too high a regard.”

A different fan of the show declared, “Robyn NEVER lived polygamy.”

Meanwhile, yet another viewer wrote in part, “This s–t was insane! Like excuse me, what?! More proof he didn’t do polygamy for the religion.”
