On screen, Gabby Thomas is one of Emmerdale’s most unlucky characters in love. Tonight, she faces fresh heartbreak as her wedding to Vinnie Dingle spirals into chaos. But away from the cameras, actress Rosie Bentham couldn’t be happier.
The 24-year-old star has revealed she has been in a serious relationship for nearly three years. Until now, she kept it completely private. Unlike Gabby, Rosie says her love life is “peaceful” and filled with joy.
A Relationship Away from the Spotlight
Rosie admits she met her partner through a mutual friend. At the time, he had never even watched Emmerdale. His mum and grandparents, however, were already loyal fans of the ITV soap.
“We were introduced by a mutual friend, and he knew what I did for a job but hadn’t seen the programme,” Rosie said. “I’m really happy, and life is much calmer than Gabby’s.”
Her boyfriend works as a quantity surveyor and lives in Yorkshire. Both share a passion for health and fitness, but unlike Rosie, he prefers to avoid the limelight.
Keeping It Quiet
For three years, Rosie managed to keep their relationship under wraps. She even snuck him into the British Soap Awards without anyone realizing.
“He has never been one for all that fame,” she explained. “But he came with me to the Soap Awards, and he loved it. At home we don’t really talk about Emmerdale much. He does find it funny, though, when people call me Gabby.”
The couple aren’t living together yet, but Rosie hints marriage is on the horizon. “I would love to get married one day. Not a big, lavish do, but a wedding here in the UK,” she said with a smile.
Weddings On and Off Screen
Filming Gabby’s dramatic wedding has also got Rosie thinking about her own future. She revealed that trying on bridal gowns for the show gave her a real sense of excitement.
“This time Gabby wears a sleeker dress,” she explained. “The shop is used to fitting people for their big day, so I had to explain it was for a fake wedding! But it did make me excited. I actually really like the dress Gabby is wearing, so maybe I’ll need a different color for mine.”
Unlike Gabby, Rosie is in no rush to have children. “I’ve got a five-year-old niece, and that’s enough for now,” she said. “I love my naps too much! But I’d love a family one day, here in Yorkshire.”
Heartbreak for Gabby
While Rosie dreams of happiness, her character faces disaster. In tonight’s episode, Gabby prepares to marry Vinnie Dingle. But Vinnie is hiding a dark secret. He is being blackmailed by Mike, a man he met online, who is now threatening to expose him.

Rosie teased: “There are going to be a lot of repercussions tonight. Gabby wants her dream wedding, but Vinnie is distracted and under pressure. It’s a recipe for disaster.”
Proud of Her Journey
Rosie has played Gabby for nine years, growing up on screen since joining at just 15. She admits she never thought she’d still be part of the show almost a decade later.
“I feel very proud to be in Emmerdale. It’s surreal to share scenes with legends like Claire King. When I first joined, I never imagined this life,” she said.
Off screen, she remains grateful for the support of her family, though she carries the loss of her dad, who died shortly before her 18th birthday. “He always wanted me to be in lots of stories. I know he would be proud today,” she reflected.
What’s Next for Gabby?
Whether Gabby and Vinnie make it down the aisle remains a closely guarded secret. But Rosie hints that her alter ego may be in for another heartbreak.
“If Gabby is left alone, maybe she should focus on being a better mother and on her business,” she said. “But if she does marry Vinnie, it would be nice if she finally had her happy ending.”
One thing is certain: the drama isn’t over. Rosie added, “I’d love Gabby to get involved in a super soap week. For now, though, it’s safe to say there’s a lot more chaos to come.”
