Emmerdale’s Georgia Jay Teases “The Wait Is Nearly Over” as She Returns to ITV in The Hack

From the Dales to a New ITV Drama

Emmerdale star Georgia Jay has teased her highly anticipated return to screens, this time in the brand-new ITV drama The Hack. Sharing the trailer with fans, Georgia wrote: “The wait is nearly over… grab the popcorn and get ready to binge!”

The actress, who plays Steph Miligan on the long-running soap, stepped away earlier this year to go on maternity leave. In real life, she announced her pregnancy alongside a heartfelt post, thanking fans for their love and support.

Steph’s Exit From Emmerdale

Georgia made her Emmerdale debut in 2024 as Steph, the daughter of Ruby and Caleb Miligan. Her arrival alongside grandfather Anthony Fox opened the door to one of the soap’s darkest storylines, with flashbacks revealing Anthony had repeatedly abused Ruby when she was a teenager.

A devastating DNA twist later confirmed that Steph was Anthony’s biological daughter. The shocking revelation left her spiraling, even considering plastic surgery to remove any resemblance.

Steph’s personal life also crumbled when her romance with Ross Barton stalled after he slept with Manpreet. Choosing to escape the chaos, Steph bid her parents a tearful farewell and left for a yoga retreat in Rome, marking Georgia Jay’s temporary exit from the soap.

Co-star Beth Cordingly reassured fans: “She’ll be back, don’t fret.”

Georgia Jay’s New Role in The Hack

Before returning to the Dales, Georgia will be seen in The Hack, a powerful new ITV drama that explores the infamous phone hacking scandal which shook Britain between 2002 and 2012. The series interweaves two real-life stories, exposing “the abuse of power and the concealment of truth.”

Praising the project, Georgia said: “A privilege to have been part of such a necessary story, brought to screen by the talents of Lewis Arnold, Jack Thorne, and an exceptional creative team in front of and behind the camera.”
