Sam Claflin Promises a “Very Different” Side in Yellowstone Creator Taylor Sheridan’s New Thriller F.A.S.T.

A Bold New Role for Claflin

Sam Claflin is gearing up to surprise audiences in F.A.S.T., the upcoming action thriller from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. Known for The Hunger Games and Peaky Blinders, Claflin says fans should expect to see a “very different” version of him in this project.

The film, slated for a 2027 release, teams Claflin with Brendon Sklenar, who previously worked with Sheridan on the hit prequel 1923.

The Plot: Special Forces, Black Ops, and Betrayal

At the heart of F.A.S.T. is Sklenar’s character—a former special forces commando struggling to adjust to civilian life. His fragile peace is shattered when the DEA recruits him to lead a covert strike team. Their mission: dismantle a gang of drug dealers operating under CIA protection.

The high-stakes premise promises Sheridan’s signature mix of gritty realism, explosive action, and moral complexity.

Claflin on His Character

While Claflin kept plot details under wraps, he revealed just how much the role means to him:

“I can’t say anything about it… all I’m saying is, I’m having the time of my life and really enjoying exploring the character that I’m playing. It’s very different to things I’ve done before.”

Filming in New York has added another layer of excitement. “It’s sort of a dream come true—working with a great cast on great writing. I can’t wait to talk about it more,” Claflin teased.

What Fans Can Watch While They Wait

Though F.A.S.T. won’t arrive until 2027, Claflin’s fans won’t have to wait long to see him on screen. He headlines the new crime thriller All the Devils Are Here, released digitally in the UK this week after premiering at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Claflin also leads the Prime Video series Lazarus, a Harlan Coben adaptation co-starring Bill Nighy and Alexandra Roach. The show follows Dr. Joel Lazarus (Claflin) as he returns home after his father’s apparent suicide, only to be haunted by chilling visions of the murdered.

The Sheridan Effect

Taylor Sheridan has built a reputation for creating sprawling universes and high-intensity dramas like Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923. With F.A.S.T., he appears to be venturing even deeper into the realm of military action and covert power struggles—a genre ripe for Claflin’s transformation.

For fans, the promise of a “very different” Sam Claflin under Sheridan’s direction is more than enough reason to mark 2027 as a year to watch.
