Emmerdale’s Ross Barton Star Michael Parr Shares Emotional Tribute to Girlfriend Amid Pregnancy Struggles
Emmerdale actor Michael Parr, best known for playing Ross Barton, has paid a heartfelt tribute to his girlfriend Isabelle Du Plessis after the couple welcomed their first child together.
A New Chapter for Michael Parr
Michael, who returned to the soap last year after a six-year break, revealed earlier in 2025 that he and Isabelle were expecting their first child. The pair announced the news in a sweet beachside photo, writing in the sand: “M.J.P S.D.P. Soon to be 3.”
On September 21, Isabelle gave birth to their daughter, Suzie. Since then, Michael has been openly sharing his joy at becoming a father. In an emotional Instagram post, he wrote: “Life before you seems so meaningless. You have changed what the word love means to me… I’ll leave no stone unturned in making sure you always feel safe, supported, and loved.”
Tribute to His “Darling Isabelle”
Alongside his touching words for his newborn daughter, Michael dedicated a moving message to Isabelle, praising her strength during pregnancy.
He revealed that Isabelle endured hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), a severe pregnancy illness marked by extreme nausea and vomiting that can lead to dehydration and weight loss. Michael described it as “a particularly cruel illness no woman should have to endure.”
Despite the challenges, Isabelle carried on, and Michael expressed awe at her resilience: “Almost 9 months of vomiting and nausea and so many other horrid side effects that had you in hospital on multiple occasions, and yet you marched on and gave me the best present a man could wish for. A beautiful, healthy little girl. Our lives now feel complete.”

Looking Ahead as a Family
Michael also praised Isabelle for her sacrifices—moving countries, starting a degree, and running a business—while still stepping into motherhood with strength and love. He promised to dedicate his life to both Isabelle and their daughter, saying: “We are now a family, and I swear to dedicate my life to making yours and Suzie’s better.”
