Emmerdale Twist: Fans Convinced Caleb Dug Up Wrong Body as Anthony’s Fate Remains a Mystery
Emmerdale fans were left reeling after Thursday’s episode, when Caleb Miligan uncovered a body in the woods at the exact spot John Sugden claimed Anthony Fox was buried. But while Caleb told Ruby and the others it was Anthony, viewers aren’t buying it.
John’s Deadly Bargain
Earlier this week, John blackmailed Caleb into helping him flee the country. He threatened to expose the truth about Anthony’s murder—committed by Ruby Miligan but buried by John—unless Caleb secured his escape.
In exchange for deleting a scheduled email to the police, John handed over the location of Anthony’s body. With no choice, Caleb smuggled John out of the village before digging up the site himself to confirm the story.
Caleb’s Grim Discovery
Armed with a shovel, Caleb unearthed a decomposed corpse and appeared sickened by the find. Convinced he had proof, he later told Ruby and others in the family that John had held up his end of the deal and that Anthony had been found.
But fans quickly began questioning whether the discovery was genuine—or if Caleb had been manipulated yet again.
Fans Cry “It’s Not Anthony!”
Many viewers are convinced John duped Caleb with a decoy.
On social media, fans speculated that the body Caleb found wasn’t human at all:
-
“Caleb dug up a dead deer because Anthony is still alive.”
-
“So I take it Caleb dug up a deer today.”
-
“Won’t be Anthony’s body—it’ll be the deer he killed that he had in the back of his van.”
Some even suggested Anthony himself could still be alive, hidden away and waiting for a dramatic comeback: “Anthony will return. Caleb is a mug to believe John.”
What’s Really Buried in the Woods?
If viewers are right, Caleb’s discovery might just be another of John’s twisted games. By planting a decoy, John could ensure his escape while keeping the truth about Anthony’s fate a secret.
The big question now: is Anthony truly dead, or has John staged one final deception that could tear the Miligan family apart all over again?
