Exclusive Interview: The Young and the Restless Star Kate Linder on Her Daytime Emmy Honor

Kate Linder Joins the Silver Circle

For over four decades, Kate Linder has been a cornerstone of The Young and the Restless, bringing warmth and wit to her beloved role as Esther Valentine. Now, the actress is set to receive one of the industry’s highest honors: the Silver Circle Award at next month’s Daytime Emmy Awards.

Speaking exclusively with Soap Central, Linder said she’s still processing the recognition. “It’s a huge honor. I’m still in shock to be recognized by everyone, by my peers,” she admitted.

The Silver Circle Award is reserved for television professionals who have dedicated 25 years or more to the industry, celebrating achievements in performance, leadership, and mentorship.

Honored in Legendary Company

Linder is sharing the spotlight with some iconic names. This year’s honorees include James Reynolds (Abe, Days of our Lives), Judy Blye Wilson (casting director for Y&R, All My Children, and One Life to Live), and television journalist Star Jones.

Meanwhile, Jane Elliot, known to millions as Tracy Quartermaine on General Hospital, will be inducted into the Gold Circle, which celebrates 50 years of outstanding service.

Linder is especially thrilled to be honored alongside longtime friends. “I love that I’m being honored along with Judy and everyone. It’s just the icing on the cake. I’ve known Jim and Jane for so long. I actually texted Jim. We were texting back and forth that we’re so grateful to receive this honor.”

Esther’s Next Chapter in Genoa City

While fans prepare to celebrate her off-screen achievement, Linder confirmed viewers will also be seeing more of Esther on-screen soon. These days, Esther has traded her iconic maid’s uniform for a steady presence at Crimson Lights, where her quick wit often steals a scene.

She laughed while recalling one of her favorite recent moments—when Esther reminded billionaire Cane to pay his coffee shop tab. “They’re all such fun moments,” Linder shared with a smile.

Kate Linder & Friends Charity Tea

Beyond Genoa City, Linder continues to use her platform for good. On December 7, she’ll host the 1st Annual Kate Linder & Friends Charity Tea in Boynton Beach, Florida, benefiting Camp Dream. Joining her will be fellow Y&R stars Christian LeBlanc (Michael), Bryton James (Devon), Camryn Grimes (Mariah), and Hayley Erin (Claire).

The event promises an afternoon of tea, conversation, photos, and auctions—all in support of children with special needs.
