Emmerdale: Bob Hope Makes a Surprising Move on Celia Daniels
Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) has never been shy when it comes to matters of the heart, but in upcoming Emmerdale episodes he sets his sights on an unlikely new woman—Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths). And while Bob may think he’s found another chance at romance, Celia isn’t exactly the type to fall for village charm.
Bob’s Long Romantic History
Over the years, Bob has earned quite the reputation in the Dales. He’s been married six times—including twice to Viv Windsor (Deena Payne), mother of his twins Cathy and Heath.
His relationships have ranged from passionate flings to messy affairs. He was last married to Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) but infamously cheated with Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy). More recently, Bob shared a brief reunion with Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) when her return sparked a spontaneous night of passion.
Now, the café owner’s attention has turned to someone new—and it’s a move that could be playing with fire.
Enter Celia Daniels
Celia first appeared when her dog bit Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), and she coolly revealed she’d “dealt with” the animal. Since then, she’s been a slippery presence in the village—farming land next to Moira (Natalie J Robb) and pulling her into shady business ventures.
At one point, Celia was even tied into a scheme with Kim Tate (Claire King) and Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) designed to bankrupt Moira. She later turned the tables and now presents herself as Moira’s ally—but her agenda remains questionable.
Actress Jaye Griffiths has teased Celia’s manipulative streak, admitting: “Everything that comes out of her mouth may be, but probably isn’t, the truth… She says what will best suit the endgame.”
Bob Tries His Luck
Against this backdrop, Bob decides to try his luck with Celia, hoping to impress the sharp-tongued farmer. Unfortunately for him, Celia only plays nice when it suits her—and romance isn’t part of her business plan.
While she can be disarmingly charming, Celia quickly makes it clear that Bob is not someone she has any interest in pursuing. Poor Bob may have been hoping for another trip to the infamous Dame Judi Dench B&B sheets, but for now, those remain untouched.
Final Word: A Rejection Bob Won’t Forget
Bob’s ill-fated flirtation is more comic than tragic, but it’s also a reminder that Celia is not someone to underestimate. She’s ruthless, business-minded, and has no time for distractions—least of all lovesick villagers.
For Bob, it’s back to the café. For Celia, the games in the Dales are only just beginning.
