Hunger Games Star Sam Claflin Lands “Very Different” Role in Taylor Sheridan’s New Thriller F.A.S.T.
A familiar face from The Hunger Games is stepping into uncharted territory. Sam Claflin, best known to global audiences as Finnick Odair, has joined the cast of F.A.S.T., the latest high-stakes thriller from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan.
A Sheridan Production with a Fresh Vision
F.A.S.T. is directed by Ben Richardson, Sheridan’s longtime collaborator and cinematographer on Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923. This marks Richardson’s feature film directorial debut, following his work behind the camera on much of 1923.
The thriller will pair Claflin with 1923 breakout Brandon Sklenar, who takes on the lead role.

The Story So Far
Plot details remain tightly under wraps, but the official synopsis teases a tense, morally complex story:
A former U.S. special forces officer is recruited by the DEA to take down drug traffickers protected by the CIA.
Sklenar will portray the ex-commando at the center of the story, grappling with life back home while being pulled into dangerous new missions.
Claflin’s role has not yet been revealed, leaving fans speculating whether he will play an ally within the DEA or a shadowy antagonist linked to the drug trade.
Claflin Promises a Bold Departure
Speaking recently, Claflin hinted that this role will be unlike anything he has tackled before:
“I can’t say anything about it. Unfortunately, all I’m saying is, I’m having the time of my life, and really enjoying exploring the character I’m playing. It’s very different to things I’ve done before. For me, it’s a dream come true — filming in New York with a great cast on great writing is just the dream as an actor.”
A Stacked Ensemble Cast
Alongside Claflin and Sklenar, the film also features an impressive supporting lineup, including:
-
Jason Clarke (Oppenheimer)
-
Wilson Bethel (All Rise, Untamed)
-
LaKeith Stanfield (Sorry to Bother You)
-
Juliana Canfield (Succession)
With Sheridan’s track record for gritty, character-driven storytelling, expectations are already sky-high.
Claflin’s Busy Slate
While fans wait for F.A.S.T., Claflin can next be seen in the British thriller All the Devils Are Here and Lazarus, the new Harlan Coben adaptation arriving on Prime Video next month.
