Chicago Fire Season 14: Violet Embraces Fun After Carver Heartbreak
Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) has faced her fair share of heartbreaks on Chicago Fire, and season 14 is no exception. After her whirlwind romance with firefighter Carver (Jake Lockett) came to a bittersweet end, Violet is entering the new season single—but showrunner Andrea Newman promises that doesn’t mean sadness will dominate her story.
A Goodbye Kiss, but No Future with Carver
Season 13 closed with an emotional moment: Violet finally confessed her feelings for Carver, only to learn he had accepted a job in Denver. Their farewell included a kiss and an admission of love, but the romance ended just as quickly as it began. Lockett confirmed earlier this year that he won’t be back for season 14, though he hinted the door isn’t fully closed for a future return.
Violet’s New Chapter
While Carver’s departure leaves Violet heartbroken, Newman revealed to Us Weekly that season 14 will focus on lighter, more joyful moments for her. “Violet has had some tortured relationships in the past and is coming off some serious heartbreak. She’s not looking to get into any heavy, serious relationships,” Newman explained. Instead, Violet will step into single life with a sense of freedom—and plenty of fun.
Novak’s Influence
Helping Violet embrace her new outlook is her paramedic partner, Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon). Known for her bold, rowdy energy, Novak’s presence will push Violet to loosen up. “Fun is on the lineup, on the docket for Violet, for sure, and fun is always on the docket for Novak. That’s her middle name,” Newman teased.
Christian Stolte, who plays Mouch, added that the pair’s fast-paced banter is one of season 14’s highlights. Newman agreed, noting that while Violet approaches her work with rationality and science, Novak’s empathy makes her the perfect counterbalance. Together, they’ll form a bond that goes beyond the job.
More Novak to Come
Newman also hinted that season 14 will peel back the layers of Novak’s character. “We don’t know Novak all that well. So this season, we’ll get to turn some cards on her and learn a little bit more,” she teased. With Novak shaking up Firehouse 51, her friendship with Violet could become one of the show’s most exciting dynamics.
A Season of Renewal
While Carver’s absence lingers, Violet isn’t letting grief define her. Instead, season 14 positions her to embrace independence, friendship, and the unexpected joy that comes from moving forward. For fans, it’s a chance to see Violet grow not through heartbreak, but through resilience and fun.
