Carl’s Chaos Finally Catches Up

Carl Webster has been stirring up trouble since he first set foot in Weatherfield earlier this year. The shady mechanic has exploited his half-brother Kevin Webster, brought dodgy dealings to the garage, and bed-hopped his way across the cobbles — most explosively, into the arms of Kevin’s wife Abi.

But Carl’s trail of affairs and lies is about to catch up with him. Actor Jonathan Howard, who plays the impulsive Webster, confirmed that his character will soon face major confrontations as the truth comes out.

“All Hell Is Going to Break Loose”

Speaking to The Sun at the Inside Soap Awards 2025, Howard teased that Carl is about to reap what he’s sown.

“His impulsiveness and selfishness is going to catch up with him for sure,” he said. “He’s going to have some confrontations to face the effect of the causes he has made. I don’t think he’s going to keep getting away with the stuff he’s doing. Carl is going to cross [Kevin’s] path and I think all hell is going to break loose. It’s all going to come to fruition.”

The fallout looks set to involve not just Kevin, but also Abi and potentially James Bailey, with whom Carl also had a fling.

Selfish, Not Sinister

Despite Carl’s messy behaviour, Howard was quick to stress that his character isn’t being built up as Corrie’s next great villain.

“It’s really fun playing Carl, I get to make selfish, devious [and] impulsive decisions that I can’t do in my own life. I don’t think he’ll be a [major villain] – I don’t think he’s sinister. I think he’s desperate [and] selfish,” he explained.

Carl, he said, is a man making bad choices in the heat of the moment rather than a cold-blooded manipulator. “He’s just a guy that’s made bad decisions… not bad, evil or going to be a murderer.”

Abi to Discover the Truth?

While Kevin looks set to confront his half-brother over betrayal and business trouble, the real fireworks may come from Abi. Actress Sally Carman recently hinted that her character could soon uncover Carl’s fling with James, setting the stage for devastating fallout in her relationship with Carl and further upheaval in the Webster household.

Trouble Ahead in Weatherfield

With affairs exposed, family ties strained, and simmering resentment ready to boil over, Carl Webster’s days of skating by on charm and desperation may finally be numbered. Weatherfield is about to see just how much chaos one man’s bad decisions can cause.
