Emmerdale delivered some of its darkest scenes yet as April Windsor’s (Amelia Flanagan) secret drug-dealing nearly cost her brother Leo (Harvey Rogerson) his life.

During Thursday’s (October 2) hour-long special, April agreed to look after Leo while their parents, Marlon and Rhona, were away. But when Ray Walters summoned her for another job, she dropped a bag of ecstasy pills inside the house before leaving in a panic.

In devastating scenes, Leo picked up the tablets, and by the time April returned, she was horrified to see him being loaded into an ambulance. At the hospital, doctors confirmed he had suffered an adverse reaction, with potentially serious damage to his heart.

Celia Revealed as the Mastermind

While Marlon and Rhona reeled, April prepared to confess — only to face a terrifying confrontation. Viewers finally saw Celia Daniels’ (Jaye Griffiths) mask drop, as she violently slapped April and revealed herself as the head of the county lines drug gang.

In a chilling warning, Celia threatened April’s life if she dared tell the police where the drugs had come from.

After the episode aired, actor Harvey Rogerson, who plays Leo, shared behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram of his dramatic ambulance scenes. His caption praised the Emmerdale team for making the experience fun and safe, especially given his real-life experience with medical settings.

He wrote: “Filming medical scenes of any kind can be daunting for children with additional needs… The cast and crew truly went above and beyond to ensure Harvey was comfortable… He thoroughly enjoyed filming being rushed into the ambulance, but not before having lots of laughs with Chris and Andy the paramedics, who he renamed Bob and Bob!”

Amelia, who plays April, was quick to comment on the post, praising her co-star with: “Smashed it ❤️.”

Fans also flooded Harvey’s post with support, calling his performance “brilliant,” “moving,” and “a star turn.”
