In an exclusive interview, Amy opened up about Becky’s manipulative streak and the sly tactics she uses to get what she wants. “Becky’s sense of humour is one of her tactics,” she explained. “She’s a very slippery character. If you were trying to give her an archetype, she’s a shapeshifter — she plays the room that she’s in.”

Amy added, “She knows that she can make Lisa laugh, and she knows that she can make Betsy laugh. If she’s looking to become closer to them, one of the easiest ways is to make them laugh and soften them that way.”

The Wild Side of Motherhood

Despite her deception, Becky’s return isn’t purely calculated. Beneath her bravado lies a desperate longing to reconnect with Betsy — the daughter she left behind. “Becky adores her daughter,” Amy shared. “But she’s got a real issue with boundaries. She sees herself as maybe more like Betsy’s best mate, which isn’t very healthy.”

That lack of discipline could easily lead to trouble. “She’d be the one to suggest something really naughty and silly to do — something that could get Betsy in trouble with Lisa,” Amy revealed. “She’s the fun and slightly wild mum.”

While Betsy has already been through significant emotional trauma over the past year, Becky’s unpredictable influence could make things even more complicated for both her and Lisa.

“I can’t see how she wouldn’t [stay],” Amy teased. “Just her presence — and the fact that she’s alive — changes everything. Betsy is her daughter as much as she is Lisa’s, so that dynamic would always be something they’d have to work out. Bearing in mind how much Becky depends on that relationship, or those two relationships, it’s not going to be smooth sailing.”
