Skint EastEnders Legend Cheryl Fergison Seen Selling Clothes for Pennies at Car Boot Sale
Cheryl Turns to the Car Boot Scene
Former EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison, best known for playing Heather Trott, was recently spotted selling her old clothes at a local car boot sale in Blackpool. The 60-year-old actress priced items as low as 33p each, determined to make a few extra pounds rather than throw anything away.
Standing beside her light blue car with rails of clothing, Cheryl was joined by her son Alex, who helped her run the stall. She’s still recovering from a serious medical emergency in May that left her walking with a stick, but she refused to let that stop her from getting involved and meeting fans.
Fans Show Support
Shoppers gathered around Cheryl’s stall, not only to browse her bargains—which included plus-size clothes up to size 26—but also to grab selfies with the much-loved actress. She reportedly offered deals such as two items for £5 or three smaller pieces for £1, and the crowd seemed delighted to support her.
Financial Struggles After Soap Fame
Since leaving EastEnders in 2012, Cheryl has been candid about her financial difficulties. Despite memorable roles on the BBC soap and Celebrity Big Brother, acting work has been scarce. Speaking to The Sun, she said, “Until I have steady work, I’m not rich or comfortable—I’m just surviving. I’ve been saying yes to everything for no money, but I need to start valuing my work.”
Cheryl has even taken singing gigs in local restaurants to make ends meet. “If people criticise me for singing in small places, so be it,” she said. “I’ll perform for two people if that’s who shows up. I’m an entertainer—it’s what I do.”
A Spirit That Won’t Break
Despite the setbacks, Cheryl remains optimistic. Her openness about money and health struggles has struck a chord with fans who admire her honesty and determination. She’s even appealed to casting bosses for a fresh start in another major soap such as Coronation Street or Emmerdale.
Cheryl summed up her attitude best: “I’ll never give in. I’ll keep singing, keep working, and keep being me.”
