Emmerdale’s Joe Tate Makes a Dark Threat — and It Comes Back to Haunt Him
Tensions reached boiling point in Emmerdale tonight as Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) made a chilling threat towards Jimmy King (Nick Miles) — one that will soon come back to haunt him in the worst possible way.
Joe and Jimmy’s Feud Explodes
The long-running rift between the Tate and King families erupted after Carl Holliday, Jimmy and Nicola’s adoptive son, was questioned by police for circulating an indecent image of Clemmie Reed.
Although the police decided not to press charges, the decision didn’t sit well with Joe — who is close to Clemmie and still furious over the humiliation she endured.
Spotting Jimmy and Nicola discussing the case in The Woolpack, Joe couldn’t hold back his anger.
“Have you got any idea what Clemmie is going through right now?” Joe fumed. “You clearly think this is okay — the only problem is that he got caught.”
When he went on to accuse the Kings of excusing Carl’s behaviour — and even referenced Angelica’s involvement in Bob Hope’s son’s death — Jimmy snapped. But before things could turn physical, Joe issued a dark warning that stunned the pub:
“You know me, Jimmy. You know my family. Justice comes in many forms. Let’s just see how this manifests for you and yours.”

The Crash That Changes Everything
Later in the week, Joe’s words take on a terrifying new meaning when he accidentally hits Jimmy with his car.
The shocking accident leaves Jimmy fighting for his life, and whispers quickly spread through the village about whether it was truly an accident — or a deliberate act of revenge.
“Joe is in a state of shock,” an Emmerdale insider revealed. “It all happened in a split-second, but given the bad blood between them, nobody believes it was innocent.”
The fallout is instant. Nicola is distraught, while villagers turn on Joe, remembering his earlier public threat. Even worse for Joe, Caleb Miligan (William Ash) witnessed the entire thing — and he’s left questioning what he really saw.
What Happens Next?
As police begin to investigate, Joe faces mounting pressure to prove his innocence. Caleb’s testimony could make or break him — but will he tell the truth, or protect his own interests?
Meanwhile, with Jimmy in hospital and the King family reeling, Nicola vows revenge of her own, potentially setting off another feud that could rip through the village.
“Joe wanted justice,” the insider added. “But now, it looks like he’s the one who’s going to pay.”
