Maria Horrified by Unexpected Blast from the Past as Coronation Street Enters a New Era
A Shocking Return to Weatherfield
Coronation Street fans are in for a storm of nostalgia and chaos as Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) faces an unexpected and deeply personal shock — the return of her old rival, Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley).
In upcoming episodes, Maria’s peaceful stroll down the cobbles turns into a nightmare when she spots Eva across the street, back in Weatherfield after years away. The sight leaves Maria frozen in disbelief. Their fiery history is legendary, and it’s clear that time hasn’t healed the wounds between these two fierce women.
A Feud Reignited
Longtime fans will remember the dramatic feud that made Maria and Eva one of Corrie’s most explosive rivalries. Their bitter falling-out stemmed from a love triangle with Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward), which spiraled into lies, betrayal, and one unforgettable wedding-day showdown.
Eva’s fake pregnancy — and Maria’s decision to expose the truth in front of everyone — led to the now-iconic fountain fight that fans still talk about nearly a decade later.
Now, as Eva steps back into Weatherfield life, it seems history could be about to repeat itself.
Eva Returns as the New Rovers Landlady
Eva’s comeback isn’t just for a quick visit. She’s returning in style, thanks to her new partner Ben (Aaron McCusker), who has bought her the Rovers Return. As she settles into her new role behind the bar, Eva soaks in the joy of being back on top — completely unaware that Maria is watching her from across the street, horrified.
For Maria, the return of her former enemy reopens old wounds. For Eva, it’s a fresh start that may quickly spiral into familiar drama.
Family Fireworks at the Rovers
Eva’s homecoming soon turns into a Battersby family meltdown. When her sister Leanne (Jane Danson) arrives at the pub, overjoyed to see her, Eva invites her to bring Toyah (Georgia Taylor) for a celebratory drink.
But Leanne walks into a shocker at the Bistro — Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) proposing to Toyah. The revelation ignites a furious confrontation between the sisters. Ever the peacekeeper (in her own chaotic way), Eva locks Leanne and Toyah inside the Rovers, declaring that no one is leaving until they sort out their differences.
Behind the Scenes: Cath Tyldesley on Eva’s Fiery Return
Speaking about reprising her fan-favorite role, Catherine Tyldesley said she was thrilled when Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks suggested revisiting Eva’s rivalry with Maria.
“With Maria, Kate referenced Gail and Eileen — I loved that,” Cath explained. “Eva’s a dog with a bone, she locks onto things in the same way Maria does. And even though she’s moved on with Ben, she still finds it hard to let go of Aidan. She loves a grudge!”
Cath also teased the return of the Battersby sisters’ fiery bond. “It’s extra lovely to come back to that dynamic — the three witches reunited. They’re such strong women, and when they’re together, they’re unstoppable. It’s a joy to play.”
What Lies Ahead
Eva’s return is set to shake Weatherfield to its core. With Maria still holding grudges, Toyah and Leanne at war, and Eva reclaiming the Rovers, Coronation Street is gearing up for a new golden era of fiery feuds, fierce women, and unforgettable drama.
One thing’s for sure — if Maria and Eva ever cross paths near a fountain again, fans should brace for another splash-filled showdown.
