Emmerdale Star Michael Parr Celebrates One Year Since Ross Barton’s Return — “Feeling Very Lucky”

Emmerdale favourite Michael Parr has celebrated a major milestone, marking one year since his character Ross Barton made a dramatic return to the Dales.

The actor, who first joined the ITV soap in 2013, received an outpouring of love from co-stars and fans as he reflected on his journey — both on-screen and off — calling himself “lucky, blessed, and fortunate.”

Ross Barton’s Triumphant Return

After six years away, Michael reprised his role in October last year, reintroducing Ross Barton to Emmerdale in explosive style. His comeback began with an underground boxing match against Billy Fletcher, instantly reigniting old rivalries and tension across the village.

Ross originally left the Dales to start a new life in Liverpool with Rebecca White, following a turbulent few years that included being the victim of a shocking acid attack — a storyline that became one of the soap’s most talked-about plots.

A New Chapter in the Dales

Since returning, Ross has found himself woven back into village life in unexpected ways. He grew close to April Windsor, offering her support after she learned the truth about her late mother, Donna. He also developed a relationship with Steph Miligan, which ended earlier this year after a string of betrayals and heartbreak — including a one-night stand with Manpreet Sharma.

Despite the drama, Ross’s return has reminded fans why he remains one of Emmerdale’s most compelling characters — unpredictable, loyal, and never far from trouble.Emmerdale star Michael Parr reveals whether Ross Barton will return

From Soap Star to Proud Dad

Away from the cameras, Michael Parr has been embracing fatherhood. He recently welcomed his first child, daughter Suzie, with girlfriend Isabelle Du Plessis. Reflecting on how life has changed since he first joined the soap, he admitted his priorities are very different now.

“I was 26 when I first got the job on Emmerdale,” he told The Mirror. “It used to be all about the nightclubs and pints after work. Now I’m entering dad mode — I like my tea and early nights.”

A Year to Remember

Marking his one-year return anniversary, Michael took to Instagram to share a throwback photo of Ross in the boxing ring, writing:

“1 year since Ross returned and what a year it’s been for me professionally and personally. Feeling very lucky, blessed, fortunate to be in the position I’m in. Thank you @emmerdale @itv and @itvxofficial.”

He followed the post with a playful caption: “Paid the cost to be the Ross!!! What’s been your favourite Ross Barton moment since his return?”

Fans flooded the comments with their favourite memories, while co-stars also joined the celebration. Bradley Riches wrote, “Has to be the brother bond. LOVE YOUUU!” and Shebz Miah added, “The one where Kammy has him on his toes after stealing the horse.”
