Actor Aaron McCusker, who plays Ben Driscoll, has teased that an explosive long-running storyline is on the horizon, promising drama, chaos, and heartbreak that will leave viewers stunned.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Aaron revealed that he and his on-screen family are currently filming the secret plot, which will unfold over several months and stretch into the new year.

“There is a huge storyline coming up for the family which you don’t see coming,” Aaron said. “It will drag out for a while, it has to, but when it eventually happens, it will get a reaction. It will test the family — Ben and Eva — and it will test Maggie. There’ll be twists too, but the big storyline we’re working on right now, I’m really looking forward to seeing the reaction.”

The Driscolls Take the Spotlight

The Driscoll clan, fronted by Ben and Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley), have quickly made their presence felt since moving onto the cobbles. With the arrival of Eva’s formidable mother-in-law, Maggie, tensions have been bubbling under the surface.

Aaron hinted that the family’s story will be packed with laughter, secrets, and plenty of fiery clashes. “There’s lots of fun, lots of secrets, and lots of in-fighting,” he said. “Right now, we’re letting the audience get to know us and taking it from there. It’s going to be a lot of fun in The Rovers, very raucous.”

He also revealed that an upcoming Halloween party scene will feature an awkward and hilarious encounter between Ben and one of Eva’s exes — a moment he described as “done quite well.”

A Christmas to Remember — and to Cry Over

If fans think the Halloween episode will bring surprises, Christmas looks set to deliver even more. Aaron teased that the Driscolls will take centre stage in Coronation Street’s Christmas Day episode, promising high drama and raw emotion.

“It’s dramatic, boozy, and chaotic,” he shared. “It’s revealing too, and heartbreaking. There’s plenty of fun though. I don’t know much about the crossover coming up, but I know the cast are having a very good time filming it.”

The mention of heartbreak has fans wondering if this could be when the Driscolls’ “huge, unexpected storyline” finally erupts — changing the family forever.

A New Era for Weatherfield

Aaron McCusker, already known to fans for his previous roles in Shameless and Marcella, said he’s thrilled to be part of the Coronation Street family. “It’s been good so far, we’ll see what happens,” he said. “I’m really enjoying it. It’s lovely to see familiar faces in a new job. I know people say it all the time, but it’s a lovely, lovely place to work.”
