Coronation Street’s Jodie Prenger Teases Glenda’s Future Amid Rovers Takeover Turmoil

Coronation Street favourite Jodie Prenger has given fans a glimpse into what lies ahead for her character Glenda Shuttleworth, as the drama surrounding the Rovers Return takeover continues to shake up life on the cobbles.

Glenda’s Future in Question

Glenda has been a beloved part of the Corrie community since stepping behind the Rovers’ bar, but her job — and her place in the pub’s heart — may now be under threat.

With Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) returning to Weatherfield and unexpectedly handed the keys to the Rovers by her partner Ben Driscoll, the atmosphere has turned tense. The surprise deepened when it was revealed that Ben’s mother, Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), secretly co-funded the purchase — and now holds equal ownership of the pub.

The move has thrown Glenda’s future into uncertainty, and according to Jodie, her character is feeling the pressure.

“I think she’s just… uncertain,” Jodie admitted in an interview with Reach PLC. “Glenda doesn’t know what’s ahead. She genuinely loves it there — and I think that’s partially me talking too! It’s awesome in the Rovers. You get to see everyone come through, pour a pint, and put the world to rights.”

Tension Behind the Bar?

While fans feared a clash between Glenda and new landlady Eva, Jodie insists there’s no bad blood — only insecurity.

“There’s no friction, just uncertainty,” she said. “I think Glenda just wants to know she’s still got a place there. She really belongs in the Rovers — it’s her home.”

With Maggie’s meddling ways and Eva’s strong personality, viewers can expect Glenda to find herself navigating tricky territory as loyalties and egos collide.Coronation Street's Jodie Prenger reveals "shocking" Christmas drama for the soap

Protective Sister and Fierce Friend

Away from the pub, Glenda’s brother George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) is about to find romance with Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) — and Jodie revealed Glenda won’t hesitate to step in if her brother gets hurt.

“Oh, she’s protective,” Jodie joked. “She’ll b***h slap her if she ever hurts George!”

Despite the tension between Glenda and Christina, Jodie praised Amy Robbins as “sensational and extremely funny” and hinted that the two characters might eventually soften towards each other.

“Glenda’s not taken to her too quickly,” she said. “But I hope she thaws.”Coronation Street teases Eva Price's Rovers Return comeback in trailer | Radio Times

Love (or a Dog) for Glenda?

As for Glenda’s own love life, Jodie hopes romance could be on the horizon — though she admits her character might not have the best luck.

“She’d probably end up getting her heart broken,” Jodie confessed. “She’s too trusting sometimes. But she’d love a fella… or she’d love a dog!”

Whether she finds companionship or chaos, Glenda remains one of Coronation Street’s most relatable and big-hearted residents — and it sounds like her next chapter will bring both laughter and heart.
