Coronation Street: Will’s Dark Grooming Storyline Deepens as His Family Remains Oblivious
Coronation Street has taken another unsettling turn in Will Driscoll’s storyline, as the teenager’s secret relationship with his athletics coach Megan grows more dangerous — while his family remains completely unaware of the truth.
The chilling plot continued in Friday night’s episode, days after Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) and the Driscolls moved into the Rovers Return, hoping for a new start. Instead, the cobbles have become the backdrop for one of the soap’s darkest and most emotionally fraught storylines in years.
Will’s Secret Continues to Spiral
Following his earlier disappearance, Will (played by Jude Riordan) has returned home, claiming to have been found by his former coach Megan. She told Eva and Ben she discovered him “sleeping in the changing rooms” back in Hull and had simply driven him back to Weatherfield.
But viewers know the truth runs much deeper — Megan has been grooming and manipulating the 15-year-old, maintaining a disturbing emotional hold over him even after his family’s move.
In Wednesday’s episode, the two secretly met in the ginnel, where Megan promised they would “be together again soon.”
Skipping School and Keeping Secrets
In the latest instalment, Will’s troubled behaviour continued. On his first day at Weatherfield High, Megan called him unexpectedly, leaving him tense and distracted.
When Will met Liam Connor, he convinced his new neighbour to skip school, confiding that he had a girlfriend his parents didn’t know about. “It’s sort of a long-distance thing,” Will told him — an innocent description that masked something far more sinister.
Later, Maggie Driscoll caught the boys drinking in the Rovers’ back room. She confiscated their beer but kindly invited Liam to stay for tea, unaware of the emotional turmoil her grandson was hiding.
Family Tensions Boil Over
When Kirk Sutherland arrived to collect Liam, Maggie accidentally let slip that Eva was to blame for Ben’s split from Will’s mother. Kirk called Eva a hypocrite, sparking a heated argument that ended with Eva banning Liam from visiting again.
Angry and humiliated, Will snapped at Eva:
“Are you off your head?”
Later, Eva tried to smooth things over, telling him:
“I know I’ve not helped with the situation. I’m aware of how difficult these past few months have been for you.”
But the damage was already done.
A Text from Megan Rekindles the Danger
Just as Eva tried to reconnect with her stepson, Will’s phone buzzed with a message from Megan:
“Sorry for snapping. Tough day at school. Next training session will be better — promise.”
Her words were seemingly harmless, but viewers saw them for what they were — another manipulation meant to keep Will under her control.

A Growing Fear for What’s Next
Fans online have praised the show’s sensitive yet disturbing portrayal of grooming, with many expressing heartbreak over how isolated Will has become. His family, despite their best intentions, are still completely oblivious to Megan’s influence.
As Coronation Street continues this powerful storyline, viewers are left fearing how far Megan will go — and whether anyone will uncover the truth before Will is pulled too deep into her web.
