Emmerdale’s Michael Parr Teases Ross Barton’s Explosive Revenge After April’s Ordeal

Emmerdale actor Michael Parr has hinted that his fan-favourite character, Ross Barton, could soon take centre stage in the soap’s darkest storyline — April Windsor’s harrowing ordeal at the hands of Ray Walters and Celia Daniels. And if Ross finds out what’s really been happening, it sounds like there’ll be hell to pay in the Dales.

Ross’s Return to the Spotlight

Although Ross has so far stayed on the edge of April’s storyline, Michael Parr has teased that’s about to change. Speaking on Inside Soap’s Soap Scoop podcast, the actor confirmed that new developments in the scripts are bringing Ross closer to the action.

“I think that is starting to be released in the scripts soon,” Parr revealed. “So I don’t know what’s going on with it, but we’ve always had a connection.”

Ross’s history with the Dingles and his protective streak toward April could make him a powerful — and dangerous — ally once he learns how far Ray and Celia’s manipulation has gone.

A Proud Connection with April

Parr also spoke fondly of Amelia Flanagan, who plays April Windsor, and her growth on the show since joining Emmerdale as a young child.

“She was such a talented little four-year-old when she joined the show,” Parr said. “Now she’s basically the face of the show and wins all the awards! I’m just grateful to be part of her storylines now. She’s a very thoughtful young woman and an amazing actress.”

His admiration for Flanagan suggests that the Ross and April dynamic will play an emotional role in the coming episodes — one that could blend compassion with the explosive edge fans expect from Ross Barton.

“There’s Going to Be Hell to Pay”

When asked what might happen if Ross discovers what Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) and Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) have done, Parr didn’t hold back.

“I imagine when Ross does find out, there’s going to be hell to pay,” he warned. “Ross has shot people, so he’s not one to be trifled with. He’s a good fighter and he’s not scared of anyone. He’s just not that smart! But those two are — they’re smart, but not physically imposing. If they get caught in the wrong part of the farm and there’s no one around, they’re going to come off much worse.”

It’s a chilling hint that Ray and Celia’s reign of terror may soon come to a violent end — especially if Ross’s darker side resurfaces.

Brain vs. Brawn — A Dangerous Showdown Ahead

The actor described the looming confrontation as a battle of “brain versus brawn,” setting up what could be one of Emmerdale’s most gripping face-offs in years. With Ray’s manipulative power and Celia’s cold intelligence pitted against Ross’s physical strength and instinct for revenge, the fallout could shake the Dales to its core.

As April’s trauma deepens, and the villains tighten their hold, Ross Barton’s return to form could be the explosive turning point fans have been waiting for.
