The mystery surrounding Anthony Trueman’s unexpected demise on Christmas Day has finally been unravelled.

EastEnders viewers witnessed the shocking death of the Walford doctor during the festive season in a dramatic plot twist.

His ex-lover Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) is currently behind bars, accused of his murder, while her mother Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) is in Corfu, hunting for Chrissie Watts (Tracy Ann Oberman), whom she suspects to be the real culprit.

However, the true perpetrator of the crime was revealed in Thursday’s (January 15) episode of the BBC soap, which is now available for viewing on BBC iPlayer.

Earlier this week, Anthony’s father Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) received news from the funeral director that he would soon be able to see his son’s body, reports the Daily Star.

He attempted to reconcile with his estranged granddaughter Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness), but she hastily left when the conversation turned to Anthony’s funeral plans.

In the most recent episode, Oscar Branning (Pierre Moullier) left a concerned voicemail for Jasmine, having not heard from her since the previous day.

Jasmine was later seen returning to Walford on the back of a milk lorry, clearly intoxicated. In an effort to keep Patrick unaware of Jasmine’s downward spiral, Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) found her in the café and promised to help her sober up, but the young girl ran off once again.

Jasmine was engrossed in a mysterious video on her mobile when she began a flirtatious chat with Zack Hudson (James Farrar). However, Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) intervened, urging Jasmine to stop mistreating Patrick.

When Jasmine confessed that she felt out of place in the family, Chelsea hinted at Anthony’s less than perfect character. With Chelsea remaining tight-lipped about the details, Jasmine stormed over to No.20 to confront the entire family about Anthony.

Patrick confessed the truth about his son, revealing to Jasmine that Anthony was controlling, that his ex-wife had obtained a restraining order against him and their children, and that he was fixated on her mother, Zoe.

Jasmine, livid with everyone, retreated to the café, but Patrick followed her to provide more insight into Anthony, maintaining that despite his son’s actions, he still believed Anthony was a good man.

Consequently, Jasmine reconsidered her stance and agreed to accompany the family to pay their respects to Anthony at the chapel of rest. They all bid an emotional farewell, after which Jasmine requested some time alone with her late father.

Once alone, Jasmine’s demeanour shifted as she took out her phone and showed Anthony’s body the video she had recorded on Christmas Day. The footage depicted Anthony assaulting Zoe in The Vic, followed by a heated altercation that culminated in Anthony collapsing dead on the floor, revealing Jasmine as his killer.

“You could have killed her but I stopped you. It’s nice to finally meet you, dad. Now rot in hell,” Jasmine said to Anthony.

Will Jasmine’s true nature be revealed and will she assist her mum Zoe in getting out of prison?
