Benjamin Hollingsworth Keeps Christmas Grounded for His Kids

Virgin River star Benjamin Hollingsworth is known on screen for playing Brady with heartfelt intensity, but off screen he takes an equally thoughtful approach to family life — especially during the holiday season.

This year, Hollingsworth and his wife Nila are planning a big family Christmas celebration that puts connection and shared experiences at the forefront. With three children of their own and nieces and nephews in the extended family, he’s rented a large house where everyone will spend Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after together. The emphasis is on gathering loved ones, creating joyful memories and enjoying the chaos that comes with a big family holiday.

Hollingsworth describes some of the family traditions they treasure, from making Christmas cookies — even if half of them don’t make it into the oven — to cutting down their own Christmas tree. For him and his wife, these activities are less about perfection and more about the sense of togetherness they bring. He also deliberately teaches his kids that Christmas is about more than presents, candy and stockings. Instead, he focuses on wholesome moments like singing carols and tobogganing, believing those are the memories his children will carry forward

Bringing his children to work on holiday-themed projects, such as his recent film The Christmas Ring, has also been part of his effort to make the festive season meaningful and inclusive. By involving his kids in creative projects and keeping traditions active at home, Hollingsworth strikes a balance between his career and family life, keeping the holidays grounded in what matters most — connection, laughter and shared joy.
