Bold & Beautiful’s Jacqueline MacInnes Wood & Tanner Novlan Reveal Their Dating Dealbreakers — And the One Question That Got a “Hard Pass”!
Soap stars sound off on exes, first dates, and text breakups — would Steffy and Finn approve?
Real-Life Romance Meets On-Screen Drama
They may play one of The Bold and the Beautiful’s steadiest couples, but off screen, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy) and Tanner Novlan (Finn) recently took a playful detour from the usual Forrester family chaos to answer some very relatable dating questions.
In a light-hearted video shared by CBS, the soap stars sat down to dish out their thoughts on real-life romance — with some answers that had fans (and even Tanner’s wife!) laughing in the comments.
Though both actors are happily married — Wood to Elan Ruspoli, and Novlan to former B&B alum Kayla Ewell — their candid takes prove they haven’t forgotten the ups and downs of the dating world.
“Hard Pass” on That Ex Vacation
The video kicks off with a dating scenario ripped straight from a soap script: Would you ever take an ex on a trip?
Without missing a beat, Wood shut that idea down with a decisive:
“Hard pass.”
Novlan, however, paused — maybe a little too long — prompting Wood to tease him into answering. The moment got even better when Kayla Ewell jumped into the comment section with a heart emoji and a laughing face, making it clear she was watching every second.
“I Love You” on Date One? “Oops” by Text?
Another hot topic: saying “I love you” on a first date. Surprisingly, both stars were on board with it — and also agreed that “love at first sight” might actually be real.
But when it came to the question “Is it ever OK to break up by text?”, things got a little awkward. One of them gave a sheepish “oops,” suggesting maybe that had happened once or twice in the past. No names were dropped — but the smile said it all.

Steffy, Take Notes?
As they laughed through the video, Wood quipped, “I should tell my character that,” referring to one of her answers — possibly the one about dodging toxic exes. (Looking at you, Liam.)
It’s refreshing to see the B&B stars off duty, sharing laughs over situations their characters would probably turn into a three-week arc full of betrayals, fainting spells, and rooftop showdowns.
