Chicago Fire Season 14 Photos Hint at Novak’s “Med” Crossover and a Possible Romance
Sparks Fly as One Chicago’s New Crossover Takes Shape
The heat is back at Firehouse 51 — and it’s not just the flames causing it. Chicago Fire season 14 is about to ignite One Chicago’s next big crossover event, teasing an unexpected romance that could link Fire and Med in a way fans haven’t seen for years.
NBC’s beloved firefighter drama returns after a four-month hiatus, bringing major changes. Two familiar faces are gone, one more departure looms, and at the center of it all is paramedic Novak — whose growing connection to Chicago Med is fueling speculation about love behind the sirens.
First Look: Violet and Novak at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center
New photos from the Chicago Fire season 14 premiere show Violet and Novak in action at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. At first glance, it seems like a routine hospital drop-off. But fans noticed something more — a growing chemistry between Novak and a new Chicago Med doctor that could spark One Chicago’s next big romance.
The episode also introduces a new face to Firehouse 51: Sal Vasquez, played by Brandon Larracuente. Meanwhile, Ritter returns, but Carver and Damon’s absence is keenly felt. Novak, however, seems to be finding her own story outside the station walls — and possibly, her next great love story.
Showrunner Teases “Intriguing” Crossover Reasons
Showrunner Andrea Newman recently revealed to TVLine that Chicago Fire will feature “multiple mini-crossovers” this season. Novak, in particular, will be spending a lot of time over at Chicago Med for what Newman called “intriguing reasons.”
That word — “intriguing” — has fans buzzing. After all, it’s been years since One Chicago saw a major cross-show romance. Novak’s appearances at Med aren’t just professional visits. Something more personal may be calling her there.
Novak and Dr. Frost: A Romance on the Horizon?
The leading theory centers on Novak and Chicago Med’s newest doctor, John Frost (played by Darren Barnet). The pair shared quiet but noticeable chemistry during the 2025 One Chicago crossover event when Frost joined Novak and Violet on a ride-along with Ambulance 61.
With Damon out of Novak’s life and Frost single — not to mention closer to her age — fans are convinced the two could become the next great One Chicago couple. Even actress Jocelyn Hudon (Novak) agrees, teasing that there’s “something to explore” between them.
If the hints play out, Novak and Frost could rekindle the cross-show romantic magic not seen since Brett and Antonio’s relationship back in Chicago Fire season 6.
A New Era for One Chicago
Chicago Fire season 14 premieres Wednesday, October 1, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC — following Chicago Med season 11 and leading into Chicago P.D. season 13. With new faces, emotional shifts, and crossover romance brewing, it’s shaping up to be a fiery return for One Chicago fans.
