Chicago Fire Stars Taylor Kinney & David Eigenberg’s TikTok Fail Has Fans in Stitches
Chicago Fire stars Taylor Kinney and David Eigenberg have once again proven that Firehouse 51’s off-screen chemistry is just as iconic as their on-screen teamwork — this time by completely botching a TikTok trend.
As TikTok continues to explode with the viral mash-up of 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up?” and Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap,” two of the show’s fan-favourite actors couldn’t resist joining in. While filming Season 14, Kinney and Eigenberg attempted their own version of the now-infamous lip-sync — and the result was pure One Chicago comedy.
The Viral Attempt — And The Hilarious Fail
In the clip, Taylor Kinney, still in full Severide gear, kicks things off flawlessly. He channels Linda Perry’s vocals with laser-focused seriousness, hitting every beat.
Then the camera cuts to Eigenberg.
And he immediately misses his cue.
Instead of joining in smoothly, the Herrmann actor enthusiastically dances, stumbles through a few improvised lines, and beams his way through what can only be described as a joyful lip-sync disaster. His timing? Terrible. His energy? Off the charts. His entertainment value? Absolutely elite.
The moment — captured by actress Miranda Rae Mayo — was later posted by Chief Lighting Technician Anthony Lullo, where it quickly earned hundreds of likes and delighted fans across the One Chicago fandom.
Behind the Scenes: “We Laugh Hard Every Day”
This isn’t the first time the cast has served behind-the-scenes hilarity. In fact, according to Eigenberg, it’s the show’s unofficial daily tradition.
“We laugh hard. We laugh hard every day on this show,” he told NBC Insider. “That’s why the crew stays. Everybody who can stay stays because it’s a beautiful set.”
Eigenberg shared even more insight during an interview on the official One Chicago Podcast, explaining that the cast leans into a “low-grade sense of humor” to balance out the intense rescue scenes the series is known for.
He also revealed that Miranda Rae Mayo fit right into the goofiness from her very first day as Stella Kidd back in Season 4.
“When she first showed up, she threw me to the ground and jumped on top of me,” Eigenberg recalled, laughing. “Everybody was cracking up. I told them, ‘She fits in.’”
One Chicago Fans Love It
While celebrities from Jennifer Lopez to Sabrina Carpenter have joined the viral remix trend, fans insist the Chicago Fire version tops them all. The reason is simple: it perfectly captures what makes the series’ cast so beloved — their ability to switch from high-octane drama to unfiltered, genuine fun at the drop of a hat.
With Season 14 already delivering major storylines and cliffhangers, moments like these are a reminder of why viewers remain so loyal to Firehouse 51: the camaraderie feels real, on screen and off.
