Chicago Fire: Violet Embraces Single Life After Carver Heartbreak
A Fresh Start for Violet
Violet Mikami has been through her share of heartbreaks on Chicago Fire, and Season 14 will be no exception. Coming off her whirlwind romance with Sam Carver — which ended when he transferred to Denver — Violet (Hanako Greensmith) is starting the season on her own.
But according to showrunner Andrea Newman, her storyline won’t be all doom and gloom. “Violet has had some tortured relationships in the past and is coming off some serious heartbreak,” Newman told Us Weekly. “She’s not looking to get into any heavy, serious relationships. Fun is on the lineup.”
Violet and Carver’s Bittersweet Ending
Season 13’s finale gave fans a tender, if heartbreaking, farewell between Violet and Carver (Jake Lockett). Violet confessed her feelings, and Carver admitted he loved her too — but revealed he’d accepted a job in Denver. Their kiss sealed an emotional goodbye, leaving fans crushed.
While Lockett has confirmed he won’t return in Season 14 due to budget cuts, he teased earlier this year that he wasn’t ruling out a future comeback. For now, however, Violet’s story is moving forward.
Violet and Novak’s Dynamic Duo
Newman teased that Violet’s single era will be filled with lighter moments, thanks to her growing friendship with paramedic partner Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon).
“It’s time to go out and just have a blast and not get caught up in anything that could lead to heartbreak,” Newman said. “Fun is always on the docket for Novak. That’s her middle name.”
Christian Stolte (Mouch) praised their on-screen chemistry, calling their rapid-fire banter one of the season’s highlights. “They’re so different,” Newman explained. “Violet is very rational and science-driven, while Novak is incredibly empathetic. They balance each other beautifully.”
Novak in the Spotlight
Season 14 will also peel back more layers of Novak’s character. “We don’t know Novak all that well,” Newman admitted. “So this season, we’ll get to turn some cards on her and learn a little bit more.”
With Violet embracing fun, Novak adding wild-card energy, and their partnership blossoming, it looks like the paramedics of Firehouse 51 are set to steal the spotlight in fresh and exciting ways.
What’s Next for Violet?
For now, Violet’s journey will focus less on romance and more on rediscovering herself — but in the One Chicago world, nothing stays calm for long. Whether Carver makes a surprise return or a new love interest enters her life, Violet’s story is just heating up.
Chicago Fire airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC, with next-day streaming on Peacock.
