Coronation Street: Bethany and Daniel Agree They’re Better Off Apart
Bethany’s Return Brings Trouble
Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) made her long-awaited comeback to Coronation Street tonight — but it wasn’t the smooth homecoming she hoped for. Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) was stunned to discover Bethany accused of stealing her boss’s car.
Bethany explained the car belonged to Ms Stokes, who had “so many others” she wouldn’t notice. But Kit soon realised Bethany wasn’t telling the full story. She admitted she had already quit her job a week earlier, after overworking herself into a disastrous mistake that nearly cost her career.
Fortunately for Bethany, Kit managed to smooth things over and keep the incident from her mum Sarah (Tina O’Brien). With that drama behind her, Bethany turned her attention to something more personal — her past with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).
No Love Rekindled
Bethany and Daniel’s complicated history has long been tied to Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), who left Weatherfield after her own explosive storylines. With Daisy gone, Bethany and Daniel finally had a chance to talk things through.
Meeting for drinks at the Bistro, Bethany didn’t hold back. She told Daniel in no uncertain terms that she had zero intention of getting back together with him, joking she’d rather live in a monastery at the North Pole than rekindle their romance.
Expecting him to beg, Bethany was shocked when Daniel agreed. He calmly told her that they weren’t good for each other, admitting he only asked her out for a drink to apologise for the hurt he’d caused.
Both smiled as they realised they were on the same page — not lovers, but friends.
Painful Past Still Lingers
Daniel’s betrayal still looms large in Bethany’s memory. Their wedding plans were shattered when Daisy revealed she might be carrying his baby after a one-night stand. The humiliation pushed Bethany to leave Weatherfield for a new life in London.
Her exit was compounded by a traumatic health crisis — after undergoing botched liposuction in Turkey, Bethany developed sepsis and was left needing a permanent stoma bag.
Real-Life Joy for Lucy Fallon
Off-screen, Lucy Fallon took a break from the cobbles earlier this year for maternity leave. She welcomed her daughter, Nancy Margaret, in January, adding to her growing family with partner Ryan Ledson and their son Sonny Jude. Fallon shared heartfelt photos online, describing life with her newborn as being “in a bubble.”
What’s Next?
Bethany may be back in Weatherfield, but romance with Daniel is firmly off the table. With her career in ruins and family secrets still bubbling, her return is bound to stir fresh drama — but at least one chapter has been definitively closed.
