Todd’s cancer fears bring George closer
In recent episodes, Todd revealed to ex-boyfriend Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) that he was undergoing tests for bowel cancer. His increasingly anxious behaviour hadn’t gone unnoticed by George, who became concerned when Todd started discussing his own mortality and funeral arrangements outside the parlour.
When Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) reminded George that he was “the only parental figure Todd has left in Weatherfield,” George decided to find out what was really going on. A quick glance at Todd’s emails revealed the truth — that he was attending a hospital appointment alone.

“You’re not on your own”
Determined to be there for him, George rushed to the hospital and found Todd waiting nervously for his results. The undertaker listened as his friend confided in him about the test and his fears for the future.
In a touching moment, George reassured Todd that he loved him and would always be there — a rare declaration of affection that momentarily broke through Todd’s emotional walls. As Todd’s name was called, George gently took his hand, promising quiet strength and solidarity.
It was a brief but beautiful scene, and fans wasted no time in celebrating it online.
“Absolutely gorgeous — more George & Toddicles please!” one viewer posted on Instagram.
“Special friendship,” another fan wrote, while one user added: “Great scene. Both actors nailed it.”
Todd’s relief — and heartbreak
Later, Todd was relieved to learn that his test results came back clear. Returning home, he accepted Billy’s invitation to celebrate with a drink — but any momentary peace was short-lived.
Meanwhile, Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) — Todd’s manipulative partner — was drinking with friends at the Bistro. When he later discovered that Todd had lied about his whereabouts, Theo’s jealousy and paranoia boiled over.
The episode ended in devastation as Todd returned to his flat, only to find Pete emerging from the bathroom wearing Theo’s dressing gown — confirming his partner had cheated on him.
Fans praise powerful performances
Viewers took to social media to praise Gareth Pierce and Tony Maudsley for bringing depth and vulnerability to a storyline that’s resonating strongly.
“That scene between Todd and George broke me,” one fan tweeted. “Corrie at its best — raw, real, emotional.”
Another added: “Gareth Pierce deserves awards. Todd’s journey is heartbreaking, and Tony Maudsley gives him so much warmth.”

What’s next for Todd?
Actor Gareth Pierce has hinted that Todd’s ordeal is far from over — especially with Theo’s emotional abuse still controlling his life.
“The audience will be noticing how Todd briefly relaxes with friends like Sarah, George and Billy,” Gareth told Metro. “But when Theo enters the room, he’s instantly tense again — that pit-of-the-stomach fear.”
As fans rally behind Todd, the question now is whether he’ll find the strength to finally break free from Theo’s manipulation — and lean on the friends who truly love him.
