Coronation Street Icon Sally Dynevor Shares Heartfelt Message to Cast After Charity Event Close to Her Battle With Breast Cancer
A Cause That Means Everything to Her
Sally Dynevor, beloved for her long-running role as Sally Metcalfe on Coronation Street, has expressed deep love and gratitude for her co-stars after they came together in support of a charity that changed her life.
While Sally could not attend the annual Christmas lights switch-on at New York New York Bar in Manchester, she made it clear that the event meant the world to her. The fundraiser supported Prevent Breast Cancer, a charity for which she proudly serves as patron. The cause is personal. Sally was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, at the same time her soap character received the same devastating news onscreen.
Corrie Stars Brave Storm to Raise Funds
Despite Storm Claudia sweeping across the city, soap favourites including Cath Tyldesley, Jodie Prenger, Cait Fitton, Aaron McCusker and Tony Maudsley turned up in festive outfits to entertain the crowd. They led sing-alongs, boosted the festive spirit, and helped raise crucial funds.
The switch-on moment itself was carried out by Corrie stars Jane Hazlegrove (Bernie Winter), Peter Gunn (Brian Packham) and Vicky Myers (DS Lisa Swain). The celebration was filled with joy, laughter and community spirit, all while highlighting a cause with life-saving impact.
Sally’s Emotional Reaction: “Love You All So Much”
Sally later shared photos from the event, praising everyone who helped make the night a success. Writing on Instagram, she said:
“Wow, love the Corrie cast raising funds for @preventbreastcancer @newyorkbarmcr. Thank you to everyone involved. What a fantastic team.”
Jane Hazlegrove replied that the night had been “great fun” and added:
“We missed you though, gorgeous one… our Queen!”
Sally responded with a message that summed up the bond of the Corrie family:
“Love you all so much.”

A Mountain Conquered for Charity
The fundraiser follows another extraordinary challenge Sally completed earlier this year. In September, she and her son Samuel reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, standing 5,895m above sea level, to raise money for Prevent Breast Cancer.
Sharing photos from the emotional moment, she wrote:
“We made it. Thank you to everyone who sponsored us… The most incredible week. So challenging in every way. Love you all.”
A Legacy of Strength and Community
Sally Dynevor remains a powerful voice for awareness and early diagnosis. Her journey continues to inspire thousands, both on-screen and off. With the support of her co-stars and fans, she stands as proof that hope, courage and community truly save lives.
