Coronation Street Star Teases “Difficult Times Ahead” for Newcomer Ben Driscoll
Coronation Street star Aaron McCusker has revealed that “difficult times” are on the horizon for his character Ben Driscoll, following his dramatic arrival on the Cobbles earlier this week.
A New Landlord, A New Power Struggle
Ben made his debut after buying the iconic Rovers Return Inn for his wife Eva Price, marking the couple’s fresh start in Weatherfield. Though charming on the surface, Ben’s darker side was hinted at during a tense encounter with Carl Webster, suggesting more complexity beneath the charm.

Eva’s return to the Street as the new landlady should have been a moment of triumph—but the celebrations were cut short when Maggie Driscoll, Ben’s overbearing mother, arrived unannounced. Having funded the pub’s purchase, Maggie immediately tried to take control.
In the end, Ben stepped in to mediate, declaring that Eva’s name would go above the door while Maggie would remain a “silent partner.” Yet peace is far from guaranteed, and it seems the real drama is only beginning.
Torn Between Two Women
Speaking to Digital Spy, McCusker explained Ben’s impossible situation. “He’s got every reason to be stuck between his mum and Eva because he loves them both dearly, and there’s nothing worse than being caught in the middle,” he said.
“He can see that Maggie doesn’t treat Eva very well, but he’s scared to step in because she was a single mum who raised him. Deep down, he wishes she’d stop talking to Eva that way—and maybe go away every now and again.”
The actor, known for his roles in Shameless and Marcella, hinted that Ben’s loyalties will be tested as tensions rise. “I don’t know what way it’s going to go,” McCusker admitted. “But I can see difficult times ahead.”
Family Dynamics in the Driscoll Household
Beyond the brewing family feud, McCusker teased more heartwarming moments between Ben and his children. “I’ve got a lovely relationship on screen and off screen with Raph Akuwudike, who plays my oldest, Ollie,” he shared. “We have some lovely scenes together.”
He added with a smile, “It should be him keeping his kids on the straight and narrow—but I think we might see them keeping him there instead.”
With Maggie’s interference growing and Ben caught between loyalty and love, Coronation Street viewers can expect the Driscolls’ arrival to bring both laughter and heartbreak to Weatherfield in the weeks ahead.
