Coronation Street’s Colson Smith Goes ‘Full Fort Knox’ After Break-In

Car Robbed, But Thieves Get Nothing of Value

Former Coronation Street star Colson Smith recently revealed a troubling incident: his car was broken into in Manchester. Luckily, the thieves failed to steal anything of real value, making off only with a bag of his cricket kit. Sharing the news on his popular podcast On The Sofa, co-hosted with ex-Corrie colleagues Jack P. Shepherd and Ben Price, Colson admitted the experience left him fuming.

In a mix of humor and exasperation, Colson joked that he has now gone “full f*****g Fort Knox” with his home security. “I’ve gone shark cage over the house,” he quipped to his co-stars, emphasizing just how seriously he has taken the incident.

Remembering Life on Coronation Street

Colson’s revelations come months after he bid farewell to Coronation Street, where he portrayed PC Craig Tinker for 14 years. His character met a grisly end this past May, murdered by villain Mick Michaelis after a failed arrest attempt. Fans were devastated, and Colson himself admitted he would miss the show “forever.”

Reflecting on his time on the soap, the 27-year-old emphasized that it wasn’t the celebrity moments that stood out most, but the simple, everyday camaraderie on set. “Like, on a summer’s day at Corrie, we get an ice cream van, with all your mates and sit outside in the car park — the cast, the crew, the production team, the security staff, the cleaners, we’re all so tight there,” he said.

Colson called those seemingly ordinary days the highlights of his career: “That craic, that’s the stuff that I won’t get at any other job, and that’s the stuff that I’ll miss forever.”

Life After Corrie: What’s Next?

With his long-running role behind him, Colson is now exploring opportunities under his own name. “It’s very bizarre leaving something you’ve done for so long, because I think it starts the question, ‘Who’s Colson? What does he want to do?’” he explained.

Currently enjoying a quieter life at home, Colson is clear about his ambitions: he wants to continue working in television, podcasting, live shows, and presenting. “I want to spend more time in telly, want to do more stuff as Colson, so we shall see what happens, and I’ll be happy with whatever — more podcasting, got a couple of live shows coming up, more presenting stuff, more audio stuff, that’s the stuff I love. So watch this space.”

From Police Officer to Podcast Host

Colson’s journey from playing a much-loved soap character to carving out a new identity in media has been marked by resilience, humor, and adaptability. While fans mourned the loss of PC Craig Tinker, they now have the chance to see Colson take on projects that reflect his personal passions and talents.

The break-in serves as a reminder that even public figures face everyday challenges, but Colson’s witty response and commitment to safety show his practical side. As he fortifies his home and looks forward to new professional ventures, it’s clear that his post-Coronation Street chapter is just beginning — and audiences can expect plenty of excitement, creativity, and the same down-to-earth charm that made him a fan favorite for over a decade.
