Coronation Street’s Vicky Myers Praises ‘Gorgeous’ Fans as They Back Her Charity With Cheeky Twist
Coronation Street star Vicky Myers has hailed her “gorgeous” supporters after they threw their weight behind her Christmas charity campaign — and found a playful way to do it.
From DS Lisa Swain to soap favourite
Vicky Myers is best known for playing Detective Sergeant Lisa Swain on Coronation Street, a role she has held since 2021. Her character first appeared during the investigation into Seb Franklin’s tragic death and has since faced multiple high-stakes cases, including Daisy Midgeley’s stalking ordeal and the downfall of serial killer Stephen Reid.
More recently, Lisa has been caught in personal drama involving her daughter Betsy and villainous solicitor Joel Deering. Despite the chaos, Myers’ popularity has soared — especially since Lisa became half of fan-favourite couple Swarla alongside Carla Connor (Alison King).
Secret Santa campaign smashes target
Off-screen, Vicky has been winning hearts with her charity work. Alongside actress Erin Shanagher (The Bay, Peaky Blinders), she launched the Secret Santa Hamper project back in 2020. The aim: to support families living in food poverty across Greater Manchester during the Christmas holidays.
Since then, the campaign has delivered more than 2,000 hampers. This year, marking its fifth anniversary, Vicky and Erin set a bold goal of £15,000 to provide 1,000 hampers.
Thanks to the public’s generosity, the fundraiser not only hit the target but soared past it, reaching more than £19,000.
Fans add humour to generosity
Supporters have gone beyond donating — they’ve done it with a cheeky twist. Some contributions have been made under Coronation Street character names, including Kit Green, David Platt, and “Mrs Carla Connor Swain.”
Resharing one of the posts on Instagram, Vicky couldn’t hide her delight:
“It would appear that you’re not only extraordinarily generous but you also have a sense of humour! Fabulous. THANK YOU SO MUCH!”
Messages of love and support
The donations have been matched with heartfelt messages. One supporter wrote: “Your kindness and generosity are truly inspiring. I’m so happy to contribute and help make a difference.”
Another added: “Good luck Vicky and Erin, it’s fantastic that you do this each year, selflessly helping others.”
With fans describing the mission as “incredible” and “truly smashed it,” it’s clear the Secret Santa campaign has struck a powerful chord with the Corrie community.
