Daisy Campbell Speaks Out: From Emmerdale Heartbreak to Building a New Future

A Childhood Given to Emmerdale

Daisy Campbell was only seven years old when she first stepped onto the set of Emmerdale. Overnight, she became Amelia Spencer, a character fans would follow for more than a decade. For 13 years, Daisy dedicated herself to the ITV soap. While other children played with friends after school, she worked long days on set. Acting became her life, her identity, and her future.

But then, without warning, everything changed. At just 22, Daisy was suddenly written out of the show. Her character, Amelia, decided to leave the village with her daughter after her manipulative boyfriend Tom King was exposed. For Daisy, the exit felt like a door slammed shut.

“It was ripped away from me,” she admitted. “I’d given so much, and it was out of the blue. One day you’re part of this world, and the next day you’re not.”

Shock Exit Leaves Her Lost

The loss hit hard. Daisy explained that she had always felt secure on Emmerdale. It was, in her words, “the most stable job you will have in an acting career.” But when her contract renewal never arrived, the reality sank in. Liam Fox, who played her on-screen dad, had left the year before, and Daisy’s gut told her she could be next.

When the news finally came, Daisy felt her world crash around her. “I loved the job. I loved the character. So of course you think, why me?” she recalled.

After leaving the soap in October, she quickly filmed an episode of Casualty the following month. The role of Georgina Birch gave her a burst of hope, but work dried up soon after. As the nights grew darker, Daisy admitted she slipped into a hole of self-doubt and anxiety about her future.

Reflecting on What She Gave Up

With more free time than she’d ever had, Daisy found herself reflecting on her unusual childhood. She confessed she often longed to stay at school with her friends instead of heading to set. “I did miss out a lot during my childhood,” she said. “But I wouldn’t change it. I was in such a privileged position.”

Still, the adjustment to life without the routine of Emmerdale was difficult. For the first time since she was seven, Daisy had freedom — and she wasn’t sure what to do with it.

Finding Strength in a New Path

Eventually, Daisy realized she needed stability outside of acting. “I love acting,” she explained. “But I wanted something for myself, something that kept me busy and gave me purpose.”

That something turned out to be Pilates. After a trip to New York inspired her to think differently about her future, Daisy decided to use her savings from the soap to open her own studio. With the help of her grandad, she transformed a 200-year-old courthouse in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, into That Pilates Place, a stylish wellness hub.

She trained as an instructor, passed her exams on the first try, and prepared to open her doors. “I want to take a bad situation and turn it into something positive,” Daisy said. “I want to build a community of people.”

Supported but Still Dreaming of Acting

Throughout the transition, Daisy has had the support of her boyfriend Nick, who she’s been dating for over a year. “He’s delighted I’ve found something I love,” she shared.

But fans wondering if Daisy has left acting forever shouldn’t worry. While Pilates is her focus right now, she insists the stage still calls to her. “Acting is something I can never let go of,” she said. “Sometimes you just need a break to focus on something else.”

A Future Built on Resilience

For Daisy Campbell, the end of Emmerdale was not the end of her story. It was the start of a new chapter — one filled with challenges, but also with opportunities. By transforming her pain into purpose, Daisy is proving she has the resilience to thrive both on and off the screen.

As she steps into her future, she carries with her the lessons of a childhood spent under the spotlight, the heartbreak of an abrupt exit, and the strength to reinvent herself. Fans may have lost Amelia Spencer, but Daisy Campbell’s story is far from over.
