The 33-year-old singer-songwriter, known for her breakout hit Heart Like a Truck, showed off her Southern roots while dishing on her relationship with fiancé Devlin “Duck” Hodges, 29.

The White Lie That Started It All

Lainey revealed that on their very first date, she told Duck a playful fib that set the tone for their romance. His nickname, “Duck,” was given to him by a college football coach who said he reminded him of another skilled quarterback nicknamed Duck.

“When he told me that story, I told him people call me Goose,” Lainey admitted with a laugh. “I was lying, but he fell for it. I think he was like, ‘Oh, I’m in love.’”

Love in the Kitchen

Though Lainey can light up a stage, she admits she’s no master in the kitchen. Luckily, Duck picks up where she leaves off. “My fiancé definitely likes me for a lot of other reasons, because if he was dependent on my cooking, he’d be gone by now,” she confessed.

Instead, it’s Duck who brings the flavor to their home life. “He can cook. He’s an Alabama boy, so he knows how to whip it up,” Lainey added proudly.

The couple’s wedding has already become one of the most anticipated celebrity events on the country scene. Sources revealed last month that Lainey and Duck are planning a massive country-style wedding in Nashville, Tennessee, on Lainey’s sprawling 30-acre property.

“It’s the best location because she has deep ties there,” said an insider. “And Devlin has ties to Alabama, which is only a four-hour drive away.”

As for the vibe? Expect a mix of tradition and flair. “It will be sexy country, like a California cowgirl look — traditional with a little sassiness thrown in,” the source teased.
