In an early release on BBC iPlayer, EastEnders fans saw Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) forced into an agonising conversation with her mum, Jean (Gillian Wright). The moment came after Sean Slater (Rob Kazinsky) unveiled life-changing plans that didn’t include his mother.

Still grieving Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) tragic death earlier this year, Stacey has been desperate for a fresh start. So when Sean revealed he had bought a restaurant in Brazil and wanted Stacey to help run it, the offer felt like a lifeline.

But there was a catch: Sean didn’t want Jean to come.

In heartbreaking scenes, Stacey broke the news to Jean, who had assumed she would be part of the family’s big move. Instead, Stacey explained that Sean only wanted her and the children. Trouble with Max and Zoe

While Stacey grappled with family loyalty, another shock awaited her. Before leaving, she ran into Max Branning (Jake Wood), whose sudden return floored her.

“Seeing Max again gives Stacey the shock of her life,” actress Lacey Turner revealed. “She never expected him back in Walford, and she knows full well that whenever he’s around, there’s trouble!”

But trouble runs deeper than she knows. Max has secretly rekindled a romance with Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan). When Stacey later sees them kiss, the betrayal cuts deep.

“She had no idea they even knew each other, let alone that they were a couple,” Turner teased. “She feels betrayed by Zoe, but she’s also reminded that this is typical Max behaviour—it’s what he always does.”

Since 2019, Rob Kazinsky has reprised the role for powerful arcs, from Sean’s mental health battle to Jean’s bipolar storyline. His latest return has once again thrown the Slaters into turmoil, with Jean caught in the middle of her children’s fractured loyalties.
