EastEnders star Toby-Alexander Smith shares exciting announcement three years after exit

The former Gray Atkins star has been supported by his Emmerdale wife following a huge update

Ex-EastEnders star Toby-Alexander Smith has confirmed a new acting role nearly four years on from his exit on the BBC One soap.

The 34-year-old is famed for playing Albert Square’s supervillain Gray Atkins for three years between 2019 and 2022, when the serial killer was finally caught and arrested for his crimes in a tense showdown.

Gray has spent many months concealing his evil secrets after murdering his wife, Chantelle (Jessica Plummer), Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White), and Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami), as well as abusing his new wife, Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams).

However, his antics couldn’t stay under wraps forever, and fortunately, he was arrested for his crimes after being exposed by Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty).

“Consider it payback for Kush,” Gray said to a speechless Whitney as the walls closed in on him. “That’s right, I killed him too. I pushed him under that train.”

Since leaving the BBC soap, Toby-Alexander went on to star in the period dramas “An American in Austen” and “Love Across Time.”

The actor also went on to marry Emmerdale star Amy Walsh, who plays Tracy Robinson in the ITV soap, and they share a daughter named Bonnie and are expecting another baby.

On Tuesday (January 13), Toby-Alexander announced he is starring in the new feature film, A Murder Between Friends, which also stars Dynasty legend Joan Collins, and is available to stream in the US.

The Agatha Christie-style murder mystery follows six friends as they take a holiday in the country estate of a legendary true crime TV star.

Of course, the last thing they expect is to find one of their own murdered. With everyone a suspect, they try to determine who among them has the means, motive, and opportunity.

Sharing a series of snaps from the movie, Toby-Alexander wrote: “Tonight’s the night. A Murder Between Friends is streaming on all platforms in the US.”

His wife, Amy, immediately re-shared Toby-Alexander’s post on her own Instagram Story and wrote, “How exciting.”

Toby-Alexander’s post was also met with well-wishes from friends and followers, with one person commenting: “Awesome”, while another exclaimed: “Great”, followed by a love-struck emoji.

A third stated: “Go on Tobes”, while another chimed in: “You AND @jacob_w_young???? I’m sold. As a lifelong EastEnders and All My Children fan, this has me so excited!!!!!.”
