Emmerdale Casts Pop Icon Jason Donovan for a Special Woolpack Episode

Emmerdale is about to welcome a very special guest — Australian pop legend and Neighbours star Jason Donovan. The soap has officially confirmed that the music and TV icon will make a cameo appearance later this year, playing himself in scenes filmed inside The Woolpack.

Jason Donovan Arrives in the Dales

Known worldwide for his breakout role as Scott Robinson in Neighbours from 1986 to 1989, Donovan will swap Ramsay Street for the rolling hills of Yorkshire when he appears on Emmerdale.

In the episode, Jason’s surprise appearance will thrill Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick), a self-confessed superfan, and Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), who even dresses for the occasion in a golden, sparkly suit.

Filmed at Emmerdale’s Leeds studios, the scenes see Jason take to the Woolpack stage to perform one of his classic hits for the villagers — turning the pub into a pop concert for one unforgettable night.Emmerdale casts Neighbours legend Jason Donovan for special episode | Radio Times

A Night to Remember

Speaking about his upcoming cameo, Donovan said:

“I’m incredibly excited to have been asked to make a cameo appearance in Emmerdale as myself. Filming was great fun and all of the cast and crew were extremely welcoming. Singing in the Woolpack set was definitely an experience I won’t forget.”

Producer Laura Shaw added:

“We were delighted that Jason agreed to join us for this episode. Not only is Lydia Dingle a big fan of his, but there was a real buzz on set that day. I hope the viewers enjoy his cameo as much as the Emmerdale family did.”

The cameo is expected to air in the run-up to Christmas, adding a light-hearted and nostalgic touch to the soap’s festive schedule.Neighbours star Jason Donovan 'is set to join cast of Emmerdale for surprise Christmas appearance'

A Legacy of Guest Stars

Jason joins a long list of celebrities who have made memorable appearances in Emmerdale as themselves — including Torvill and Dean, Marti Pellow, and Antony Worrall Thompson.

He also follows fellow Neighbours alumni such as Anne Charleston, Richard Grieve, and Emily Symons, who have all made the journey from Australia’s most famous cul-de-sac to the Dales.

Fans of both soaps are already buzzing at the crossover of two TV institutions, marking another milestone in Donovan’s decades-long career that spans chart-topping hits, stage musicals, and unforgettable TV moments.Jane, Harold, Paul, Scott and Charlene overlook Ramsay Street in Neighbours
