Bear thought he was just playing along. But this week’s Emmerdale episodes show just how deep Ray and Celia’s control runs—and how easily Bear has fallen under their spell.

When Bear casually revealed to Ray that he knew about his upcoming date with Laurel, Ray immediately asked for secrecy. Celia wouldn’t approve, he claimed. What seemed like a harmless exchange quickly turned into a test of loyalty.

A Failed Escape

Later, Bear met with Mick and Simo, who hinted they were planning to escape. With Celia and Ray conveniently gone, Simo insisted it had to be today. Bear was hesitant—worried, uncertain, and clearly afraid.

But just as the plan was in motion, Ray returned—angry and eerily calm.

“I can’t believe you’d do this to us,” he told them, stunned by their attempt to run. The tension exploded when he revealed that Bear had tipped him off.

“You told him?!” Mick asked, betrayed.

Bear looked crushed but defended himself: “I didn’t think it was right… Ray and Celia, they look out for us.”

It was a chilling moment. Ray’s manipulation had worked. Bear believed the illusion of care over the hard truth of captivity.

The Fate of Simo and Mick

Ray didn’t stop there. He promised Bear that he simply gave Mick and Simo new roles—one sent to another farm, the other given a second chance. But Bear wasn’t so sure.

Ray’s calm tone didn’t match his cold eyes. Bear’s fear slipped out: “You didn’t… punish them, did you?”

Ray brushed it off with a smirk: “That’s not for now.”

To make things worse, Ray later received a call from Dylan Penders warning that police were searching Caleb Miligan’s depot—a front used by Ray and Celia to move drugs. With Dylan clearly under pressure and the law circling closer, it’s only a matter of time before the entire operation explodes.

Ray, ever the master manipulator, returned to Bear and thanked him for his loyalty. Bear, feeling desperate and cornered, swore he had nowhere else to go.
